Why do people use 'need' when trying to justify their opinion? I mean people don't need a phone in the first place. The proper terminology would be want but people already know that they've lost that argument as some people will want a 4K display.
Orch , 07 Sep 2015Nice language, such taste for good manners for people you don't know. But for your knowledge,i... moreI really dont care. If you have read any previous post of mine, I worked at Sony DE and I know what was allowed and what wasn't at the event. There is a reason why there was so many restrictions and why the release date is in Nov not Oct. not really a lack of supply of 4K screens as mentioned by some members....
And the teardown was published on purpose to end this SD810 heat propaganda as it has become a real threat.
It's still unpolished, a prototype, and Sony is too conservative when it comes to this phone particularly, you'll find out later but they're doing their best to make this device successful.
Anyway I really doubt an Apple reviewer would take a front seat at that event
I think the next thing is display for mobile phones is to go beyond 16 mil colours that is the same number for ages
AnonD-78022, 07 Sep 2015Before , people said :
"No one needs a colored screen phone" ;
"No one needs... moreThis is correct BUT between black and white and colour display is a huge difference THAT anybody, old man or kid can notice, and between 100ppi and 300 and over again big difference that everybody and anybody can see it.
Now for a 5-6" display to say that will be biiig difference between a fullhd and 4k or 8k or 100k for naked eye for all ages...is just trolling
Under microscope is the real difference
Before , people said :
"No one needs a colored screen phone" ;
"No one needs a Camera phone"
"VGA resolution is the max that we could get"
"who needs FULL HD in a phone"
The rest is history.
Maybe 20 years from now, this 4K resolution will be the "VGA" of the next generation.
So stop being a hypocrite and just admire the innovations that these tech giants are doing.
Anonymous, 07 Sep 2015Go play with google cardboard. Then youll see the difference between hi-res and lo-res devices. Definitely! Of course, it may be the case that 3D renderings are locked (at least by default) to 1080p and then upscaled to 2160p. For example: GFXbench curiously refers to the resolution of the Z5 Premium as being 1080p.
Such a strategy would make sense in that 4K amounts to a lot of pixels for a mobile to push (though it is not out of the question for certain workloads).
Go youtube and search any 4k or 5k..it takes 10 seconds to do that plus the video in cae you cant do the math
AnonD-80082, 07 Sep 2015Stop kidding yourself... Most people were not allowed to even touch the Z5 premium at the even... moreNice language, such taste for good manners for people you don't know. But for your knowledge,i was at the event and from press (im from 9to5mac) you could spent some time like 2-3 min with it.
Doesn't matter because i am talking with a GOD, so im nothing compare to you and your personality
Orch, 07 Sep 2015Sorry to say BUT i was at the event , and i tested the Z5 Premium.

Cool story brah... you know the door, now gtfo
Sorry to say BUT i was at the event , and i tested the Z5 Premium.
I have at home imac with 5k and i run some 5k videos on the Z5 premium.
While on my imac i dont see with naked eye the difference between 4k videos and 5k, based on the imac display and the view distance, i never ever for 1 sec didnt saw any difference between the same 5k video on Z5 premium and iPhone 6 plus or Samsung Edge.
These things should be for laboratory and not for normal users bec you pay for something that you don't take advantage
Mokhabadi, 07 Sep 2015for testing that is really 4k make a 4k image that has one line of black and one line of white... moreGo play with google cardboard. Then youll see the difference between hi-res and lo-res devices.
iphone 7 and galaxy s7 may be released with 4k display, guess what? everyone will love it LOL
Because its sony, people just like "its useless, battery drainer and something else. wait until apple or samsung release their own 4k smartphone, i bet people will change their mine. LOL.
Nono, 07 Sep 2015Hey even 4K screen doesnt mean anything in IPS LCD screen because in the sun you cannot see an... moreAnother person on here who talks rubbish. Where do you get your info that IPS is useless under sunlight?? I have an IPS on my phone and I can see it brilliantly better than AMOLED
I see things ALLLLL the time on IPS panels in the sunlight. This would really only be a problem on mid and low end phones with cheap displays.
i had xperia z2 ips lcd screen and its work well at sun and screen very beautiful
4K is obviously gr8,
If a handheld device is capable of 4K, our eye is sharply tuned into perfect vision, as you know that the pixel density make it closer to reality, & let the competition goes to give the best in consumer hands..
Saw some comments blaming 4K, then why people running behind octacore, 10 core & 12 core?
We need the best in speed , Quality, Display ..
AnonD-55322, 07 Sep 2015Sony made this panel, or you can say that JDI made this panel.I am well aware of that.
Sony is the best. Many Samsung and apple's are getting jealous now
In my opinion,it is completely useful for VR gadgets, and because of this fabulous screen resolution the programmers can design their apps in more reality way,Sony can see the future and I'm so grateful for that.
