I can't see my 1997 Rover Coupe being compatible!
That is so true, but iv'e already got a hot spot in my juke
Anonymous, 09 Sep 2015What i know is: OBDII connections change in some brands, or better saying, i think some brands... moreThe ODBII port in the US is standardized so emissions inspections can be performed on any vehicle by a single interface. This probably only utilizes the +12V and GND pins, so it should work in any 1996+ model.
I bring wifi to my car with simply a press of the 'hotspot' button on my phone. ZTE worst invention ever. I love their smartphone though. I just hate this car plug thing. Who like staying in the car so much anyway?
Heh... They dont realize that most of cars have hiden OBD connector, like eg. VW series and Skoda very often have it behind hand-break covered with rubber where you can put phone, and when you plug such thing there you cant use armrest or its just look stupid.
Peugeot and Citroen very often have OBD connector udder the driving wheel so you actually cant drive car because you can knock it off or break with your legs.
Im not gonna mention other brands that hide OBD connector behind plastic cover in really tight places, where you sometimes cant even plug Diagnostic computer to it...
ALSO, most important, 99% of cars have lighter connenctor, and I saw about.... 100 such hotspots that use it, its small and its work... so what is the point of using port that its made for debuging and fixing car?
Not to mention that you can set NFC tag and when you put your phone in docking station in your car it start hotspot function...
What i know is: OBDII connections change in some brands, or better saying, i think some brands of cars will be not compatible with this!
ZTE have a good idea, but sell it for 100$ dont worth...because i can change my internet plan to a bigger one, pay more 10$ and have more speedy and more GB to use and then use the share wifi function on my device to do the same thing like this device!
so: this device is a no go for nothing! ZTE, you maybe have consumers to this device...i have 100% sure they are apple sheeps! :) they like to show-off theyr things, even they are stupid ones!
AnonD-375713, 09 Sep 2015Basically... you pay for car's hotspot instead of paying for your own data plan... which is li... moreService providers and manufacturers want to "make monies to buy new bodies" for their organizations. This device is more for the lazy people who want to spend money. As they say every product has its customer and i bet they'll sell a considerable amount of these "little gadgets".
Or... just press the hotspot button on your phone.
Basically... you pay for car's hotspot instead of paying for your own data plan... which is likely the same price as it's pretty much the same service. Why I don't see the point of this device....
