Sony rolls out Android 5.1.1 for the Xperia Z1, Z1 Compact, and Z Ultra Comments

AnonD-248419, 17 Sep 2015is it? i have been using 5.0.2 but my experience is not good compared with 4.4.4., esp the bat... more4.4.4 was so well made. With no lags and the battery life was good. 5.0.1 was disaster - overheating, non stop lags, I had to restart the phone almost every day. Now 5.1.1 is good as 4.4.4 with the benefits of the new lilipop. The camera is fast, the browsing speed is faster and the ram using is reduced. My mistake about the phone temp- it's the same like 5.0.1. I'm not so sure about the battery life, It's not longer than before.

I've just updated my z ultra today and i have to say that i was... Speechless. Sony is awesome. Sony ROCKS! Now my Z ultra got faster and smoother than ever. Battery life is also improving, I can feel when browsing. This is awesome. Not going to run away again from you sony. Yeah!!

Hi, Received the 5.1.1 update today for my xperia z1. Though everything thing seems to be but it has lost the incoming sound to the ringtone. Now whenever calls me it goes unnoticed. Is anyone facing a similar problem?
Any help will be appreciated.

I wanted to ask, what if I do a Factory Reset, will it go back To ... moreafter factory reset, you get the latest update you've installed. at least in my case 4 days ago. hehehe...which is i get 5.0.1 instead of 4.3

E... moreis it? i have been using 5.0.2 but my experience is not good compared with 4.4.4., esp the battery (with 4.4.4. i can easily reach 48hrs with single charge) and camera, and the last problem is sudden data connection error. Now i flash it back to 4.4.4. and still reluctant to upgrade to 5.1.

Sorry Hamilton, i clicked the reply but it wont quote your comment. But never mind.
1. Download and install the Flashtool
2. Download specific firmware for your device. It's differentiated by region and carrier
3. In flashtool, click lightning icon (flash device) in left side.
4. Then the pop up window appear. chose flashmode
5. In firmware selector window, locate your downloaded firmware location. In firmware section, chose the firmware. Wipe (check all), exclude & misc (un-check all). But you can use your own preference. Esp the wipe data part, and kernel (you must make sure it's suitable though).
6. If you're finish with this, click flash.
7. Turn off your device. Then plug you device while holding vol (-) button.
8. If it's properly connected, you should see moving bar indicating flashing progress in flashtool.
9. Once the process finished, you can unplug and turn on your device. And you shall have your device like it's a newly opened. I mean setting like account, language, internet, etc.
Oh, i forgot to mention. You must make sure that the driver is properly installed, like adb (pc companion), flashmode, and fastboot mode. While connected to the internet, plug your turned off device while holding vol + button, wait till the installed device in windows finished. Do the same with holding vol - button.
For detailed info/tutorial, i think google, bing, or whatever is your friend.

Go to Settings - About Phone - Software Update - Click On Update / Refresh - Download
For a few phones OTA not available. But for most of them, follow the above process.
5.1 makes the phone more fast and the UI is more stylish.

I updated my Sony Xperia z ultra with 5.1.1 Phone little bit faster than before. Camera speed improvement also noticeable. Battery life is same as before. But mobile temperature increase when you are busy with ur phone. But all over I m happy with 5.1.

I install 5.1.1 today and I'm ready with my opinion - the Z1 compact now is incredibly fast. Everything is so, so smooth. The phone temperature is 2-3 degrees down. I'm so excited!!!
