Hope smartphones manufactures do not bombard these would be top notch SOCs with 4K or higher than 2K screens. People need higher raw power for good gaming and other demanding heavy tasks without overheating and excessive power drain. Increasing Screen resolution on small 5 or 5.5 inch screen is not very noticeable and while doubling the screen resolution, the phone companies at the same time are making thinner phones which directly reduces the battery capacity.
And heats faster!

Becuz having a warm phone on the back, doesnt mean that it has overheated. Sony did good job at diverting heats through another pipe, i agree. But if phone overheats it will automatically freeze. So if it works normally but it is warm, then it do3snt meant that it has overheated. Again this would be when using complex apps on phone for prolonged time.
im waiting for 820 to replace note4.
just one question why 430 using Adreno 505, 617 with 405???
Supremo, 15 Sep 2015The features list for the SD820 chip is exciting, just hope it isn't plagued by the overheatin... moreIt uses the 14nm fabrication process. Even if nothing else would change, the sd810 cpu would be almost identical to the exynos chip in the s6, note 5 etc. Which has no overheating issues.
So Qualcomm just has to be not worse than the standard cortex architecture and I think this should really be no problem

AnonD-438854, 15 Sep 2015I use that site as well, and it's quite obvious that the PowerVR G6200 is more powerful than t... moreDon't get me wrong, I really didn't do any further research than the gfx bench comparison but this shows clearly a comparable performance of those two chipsets, that's nothing that I imagine without any reason... But even if the helio x10 has a slight lead gpu wise, I just believe you in this point without doing any more research in other gpu based benchmarks, the difference won't be that noticeable and still, the huawei chips offer even less performance. The strongest huawei phone has the offscren power of a three years old xiaomi mi2, that's a bad performance.
When it comes to GPUs, most of them are capable to run almost all games flawlessly, the point that makes a difference is, is it able to record 1080p in 60fps, 4K videos and 720p slow motion because that really gives the phone more and better features. This is much more useful than a higher graphics setting in a mobile game. Only when it comes to high end chips the raw GPU power that is more than you need matters because if you buy a high end phone with a highend chip you want more than you need and in this case Qualcomm has at this date the best offering. At least when it comes to the architecture.. In reality, the exynos chip has a similar performance in graphics with its Mali GPU but this is in front of all because of the much more advanced 14nm process. The adreno 430 would deliver a clearly better performance in 14nm but that's not the topic here.
My point was, for a midrange soc that will be replaced soon, the adreno 405 is not a dealbreake at all, the 617 seems to be a not overheating version of the 615 or something like that and if you also use the gfxbench database you have noticed for sure, that they have adreno 510 entries what tells uns that we will see a sd 620 device soon. I also don't really get the point in making the 617 when the 620 seems to be finished and tested but maybe it's something like they have some leftovers they they want to sell as a modified 615 and will sell it cheap to manufacturers. That will most likely be the case so the sd 617 will power 200 dollar devices and in this price range the adreno 405 is really good so in the end I don't see any problem with this chip and its gpu...
The more interesting question will be when can Samsung delver its own architecture, will it be comparable with Qualcomms solution without the advantage of the smaller manufacturing process and will the helio x30 deliver a comparable over all performance without any mayor drawbacks.
I like competition and it is important that Qualcomm gets its competition. If not we will end up with phones like the sd810 range that are not as bad as they are called sometimes but far from perfect. The exynos was the best chip this year but not because it was better, actually it was like the same chip as the sd810 cpu wise but because it was better manufactured.
So let's not argue because of the GPU of any unimportant midrange chip :D

And for those who do, like Sony on the new Z5, they were forced to install extra copper heat spreaders just to have a workaround for this issue.

I really can't trust Qualcomm anymore
after it lies and cover of the damn

Even in 3Dmark benchmarks it shows. Heck, a simple google search will yield the same results if you know what to look for.
Forgive me, but I don't think you know what you're talking about in this specific case.
G6200 > Adreno 405. Period.
Why are you ppl obsessed with Sn810 overheat issues? the fact is that SN810 in Lg g flex 2, doesnt overheat. Just becomes warm and ppl think that it overheats.
what an innovative chipset from snapdragon.
lets see what exynos has to offer in the next variant since they won this year's battle
J20, 15 Sep 2015Exynos all the way. SD for cooking purpose only. yeah exynos far better than snapdragon but anyday i'll choose snapdragon over exynos coz of its other advantages viz, I literally fried my potatoes over SD810 and it was nicely made... next i'm gonna grill my sandwich over it ;)
[deleted post]So? Does that supposed to make a statement? It all only says that the older device is not powerful. I want to see the comparison with SD820 not with some old phone model from yesteryear.
