No, Z5 has Phase Image Stabilization which BLOWS Optical Image Stabilization away. LG G4 OIS was a thing of yesterday, meet Z5 PIS.

You know that the Sony rx100 series is all digital IS and it's the best and nothing come close. It's just that when Apple comes out with things it gets all the religious praise. There are many army trolls out there people

Everytime someone claims they have good digital image stabilization, it turns out to be completely lame. Nothing remotely compares to OIS. People claiming otherwise just don't know what they are talking about. Look at real cameras. No one uses digital image stablization in real cameras and camera lenses (except in the cheapest compact cameras). There is only OIS.

People are also wrong that it's only for video. With small light cell phones, it's hard to hold them truly steady when taking a photo and so OIS is a big advantage in all still photography for getting truly sharp in focus images (in anything less that the brightest afternoon sunlight). OIS also allows for slower shutter speeds, this means better low light photography and smaller aperatures in daylight photography, which gives you a better depth of field.

Sony has a history of promoting inferior stabilization solutions and claiming they are just as good. In their DSLRs they have used sensor based image stabilization (moving the senor around to compensate for camera movement) instead of OIS (moving a lens element around to compensate for camera movement) and made all kinds of claims that it's better than OIS. But professional photographers know better and have definitively proven these claims bogus. You don't find sensor based image stablization in the truly good professional cameras.

The reason Sony does this, of course, is because it's a cheaper simpler solution. That's all. Sony has never really been at the top of camera quality, like Canon and Nikon.

Watching all those videos with software OIS... All i have to say that i'll have to stick to my Lumia 1020. It is a old phone but the videos + sound + OIS are fantastic. Waiting for the next camera phone flagship.
