This rumor does not make much sense.
Multithreading is not the same as multicore. If the A10 has a 6-core multithreaded CPU (which it will not), then it will have 12 "threads".
If it has 6 threads, it will have 3 physical cores. So it could be a tri-core CPU, just like the A8X, except that it is multithreaded.
Thankfully, Apple, like Intel, does not play the more-cores-are-better game. My laptop has a dual-core Sandybridge i5 processor, but it easily smokes any octa-core chip out there. Most applications are simply not made to take advantage of multiple cores. Hence the continued focus on dual-core (and, at most, quad-core) CPUs in the mainstream PC industry. Intel and Apple engineers know this, even if consumers are willing to be suckered into buying octa-core phones.
AnonD-187336, 23 Sep 2015Depends if you compare the multicore or encore. S6 has better battery life and wins anyway ... mores6 has the worst battery life of all of the samsung flagships .. lol

Anonymous, 23 Sep 2015I thought specs didn't matter?it just rumored and u believe its 100% true and it will happen ? seriously ??

i dont think apple will do that , maybe they only put 3 core only....

S6 has better battery life and wins anyway ... moreS6 has better battery life?????
Is that your personal experience, because I have owned an S6, and it's battery life was the worst I have ever seen in a modern smartphone, Probably the only other device to be as bad in this regard was the Nexus 5.
Now it remains to be seen how the iPhone 6S battery will perform, but I can say this, I had and iPhone 6 (which I sold to purchased the Galaxy S6, much to my later regret) and it's battery ran circles around the S6.
Don't go by the quoted figures, this counts for any device but especially the S6. it's real world use that is important, and in that environment the S6 performs dismally.
what ever Apple develop Iphones i will never buy till they upgrade the battery capacity, 1810 mAh it is a joke, as they keep saying that they developed CPU and RAM less consuming power but instead of this massive investment should look to battery. this is as well not correct as most of my friends who is using Iphone never see them without power bank or most of the time battery low.
Depends if you compare the multicore or encore.
S6 has better battery life and wins anyway in the performance general. S7 is coming soon and will perform even better of course against 6S.
Anonymouses, 23 Sep 2015Welcome to 2013, Apple. Finally playing the catch up game aren't you. Apple achievement of... moreI owned an iphone 5s and now an S6 and I kid you not that the 5s will run circles around the galaxy s6 in terms of day in and day out performance. Actual performance and not just these stupid benchmarks.
Ale, 23 Sep 2015I highly doubt this rumour. It's far more likely that the A10 will be a tri or (at the abso... moreThat is the problem. The benchmarks are clear as day. A dual core is keeping up with an octa core that has half of its cores clocked even higher than that of the apple soc. And these android geeks just cant accept that fact. Well, gotta hate on anything apple i suppose. I wonder who is the real arrogant one...
Anonymous, 23 Sep 2015Too many jealous fandroid out here.Oh plz...why would we be jealous? While it appears to impress the Apple Fans, WE are not impressed at all! I HATE Apple because they are so "ARROGANT!".
I highly doubt this rumour.
It's far more likely that the A10 will be a tri or (at the absolute most) quad core configuration.
But I would like for someone to explain how a multi core score of 4400+ Is 'bad' for what turns out to be a dual core soc? That's around 85-90% the score of the vaunted Exynos 7420, which as we all know features 4 times as many cores as the A9 (four of which are clocked at near 300mhz higher than the two in the A9).
jbrown, 23 Sep 2015I love specs and performance and the Iphone just don't cut it for me. Way behind Android in ra... moreOk, but there is no need to insult other company. What do you do with your phone that ram and cpu is so important to you, it s just a phone.
on topic: they are probably planning it for ipad pro, ipad with heavy emphasis on audio/video editing production
Apple already destroys competition without even needing to match specs. Imagine what happens when it also pit benchmarks them?
Practically speaking it won't make much difference as iPhone is smooth and optimised. But android fanboys will tear their hair out looking at numbers on paper.
Too many jealous fandroid out here.
Lets hold on our wallet before start spending on iPhone 6S or 6S Plus? Waiting another one year or two, we may get excellent multi-core processor!
Apple stop copyying
You copy many android phone and now chipset

Tell your fans that the os works fine with dual core then release hexa core and Octa core like your competitor in the future with friends and other bold words.
It works for the non geek fan but the geek knows that someone is chasing the alpha pack.
