It's mostly the votes of android fanboys. You gotta remember, apple is leading the smartphone market so even if you think they're not that big of a deal, well they must be doing something right, no company becomes worth more than $700 billion by making not-hot products do they? Apple introduces 64 bit, EVERY other manufacturer is now doing the same, nobody bats an eye, then they introduced fingerprint scanner, EVERY other manufacturer is now doing the same, nobody bats an eye. Apple introduces live photos, EVERYONE relates it to android phones and loses their minds! Whipped by google much?

In fact an educated person is less likely to agree that any given phone from any brand is the best because each phone has weaknesses and strengths and what matters is whether the strengths of the phone outweigh it's weaknesses depending on your use.
that's why to me the best phone is actually the moto x style because it not only complements my life positively but it's negatives don't affect me. the worst phone has to be the iPhone because it's negatives really affect my life, this include the lack of proper multi tasking, poor video playing capabilities, and being tied to iTunes Store for everything.

While the phone is certainly good I don't think you can regard it as 'hot' over the iphone6. Not many significant changes and doesn't really warrant the price over the iphone6.
And 3d touch would be less interesting if iOS had simply implemented long press 5 years ago. It does have a much better processor though.
Releasing a 16gb version with live photos and 4k recording (more of a gimmick for phones in my opinion, don't think the average consumer would use it to begin with), was also quite silly.

Educated opinions? I can't remember the last time I saw an educated opinion on the comments section of GSMArena. There are fanboys left and right of either platform and they can't help but spew irrelevant comments and bash the opposing brand regardless of how impressive or ridiculous the specs and/or features are.
As for this poll, I'm glad you've held it off for this long, but I can almost guarantee the Android fanboys will skew the results. It's a never ending saga with the people on this site. Also before anyone asks, I am impartial to either platform. Both have their ups and downs and I have both platforms in use as my daily drivers. Personally, I can't complain about either platform. I do, however, wish there was a way GSMArena could filter their results better.
