One day suddently my N97 stopped sending messages, although I had not changed any settings. Even checked the message settings etc, changed SIM/operator, factory reset but that didnt fix the problem, the message will simply not go through and stay in Outbox. Nokia really need to fix their software for such an expensive phone along with making it faster. Useless without messaging.

[deleted post]Why does it throw away the formulas????

        I TRY to write:

        F * SQRT(N) < W

        or

        N < ( W * W ) / ( F * F )

        Hope it worked this time!!!

Anonymous, 02 Feb 2010 ....Continued: or put otherwise | N...continued(!):

The lens in the N97 mini is a F2.8/5.4mm
So if you want a 12Mpixel sensor with F2.8, then the sensor should be AT LEAST 9.7m wide. This is not very unrealistic in a body with lower half under 11mm thick, including lens and keyboard, and thus optics with focal length of only 5.4mm ...
The 5Mpixels corresponds to a 6.3mm width limit. And I doubt that it is even that wide, but I do not know the actual size.

There IS a reason for the annoyingly protruding camera-part. Every mm helps, allowing a larger focal length and thus wider sensor width, and thus more megapixels....

Personally I would GLADLY settle for a 3Mpixel camera if I could have had the camera not being protruded.

5800, 02 Feb 2010So right it's like people that care about more mp's are stil gonna complain if there phone is ... moreYes exactly! Personally I would much prefer 3Mp with good picture quality than 12Mp of noisy pictures.

And this is NOT the same as we don't care whether there are a camera or not.

But we are putting this tread out of topic. The discussion should be held elsewhere...

There are quite simple laws of physics between the F-number of the lens, the size of the sensor in mm W, and the number of megapixels N, that (due to a numeric coincidence) can be reduced to the very simple and easy to remember rule:
              | F*Sqrt(N)

                Nokia please be serious

the v30 major update must add skype voip in contacts. I am serious now, if not i am gonna make a bad press about nokia in front of espoo headquarter buliding:(

next thing nokia needs to do with symbian is to add vlc player to symbian, multtitouch support, and simplify the ui and hide the unimportant/advanced features in symbian

hope you guys there listen to my advices

You pay more attention on 'juicier' specs and readily sacrifice the camera (but still 5MP is the benchmark, at least for me).

anyway, when will the firmware update going to bring multitouch support?

                      Thank you stupid Nokia...

I hope this fixes the back option on the music player, for now most of the time when you are playing a song and want to go back to the album view, you press back and find your self out of the music player nad on the home screen of the mobile! I remember it was better before the 20.0.0.19 update

The main conclusion that is interesting in this context is the PHYSICAL limit:
                                        F * √N < W
Where N is number of sensors in megapixels, W is the total sensor width, and F is the F-number for the lens-system. (Limit is for red light).
