That's the thing in the Android world, once a device reaches 2 years in age, it's chances of future updates are virtually infinitesimal (most devices chances aren't to great after even only 1 year)
It's a shame if true, there's nothing in the M7's specs to suggest it would have any issue running Marshmallow.

In the Android Ecosystem anything but a Nexus device (and to some extent Motorolas) is doomed to receive very late updates. regardless of the brand. HTC and Samsung are the worst thoe. As soon as a new device comes all the previous ones have to wait 6 months for an update. much behind iOS and Windows in this matter... expect those updates to mostly arriave in the end of Q1 2016

I don't understand the logic of these manufacturers. As long as the hardware can support they can provide updates regularly. Look at Sony. They are pretty good.
