Correct yes. But even a kit lens paired with a modern DSLR body would offer superior performance to a smartphone camera.
You really agree that the Nexus 5X or 6P, could compete with let's say, a Canon 750d with its 18-55mm is stm kit lens??????
Or considering smartphone cameras have no optical zoom (with very rare exceptions) and are as such best compared to DSLR prime lenses, how about the same body but with a Canon 24mm f2.8 stm lens???? That is about as budget as you can go in DSLR world
Note compare too Nokia Lumia 1020
RidgeBoyGenius, 30 Sep 2015That's just not true, it really depends the lens being used. You simply can't generalize like that.I totally agree with you on this one, but only if you use NO lenses, DEEPLY SCRATCHED/SHATTERED lenses, lenses with the PROTECTIVE COVER still on, lenses with CONDENSATION and so on.
Then again, if you do any of those then it's your own stupidity that's to blame, not the DSLR body.
I also agree you can botch-up a picture in your DSLR in many other ways than just the lenses. Once again, it's your own stupidity at play, not the DSLR.

Phone is a compact camera. DSLR is different level. Don't compare it.
RidgeBoyGenius, 30 Sep 2015That's just not true, it really depends the lens being used. You simply can't generalize like that.Hello, it's not all depends on lenses, ya I know prime lenses are great, but it's depends on sensors as well, are u comparing mobile camera sensors to DSLR "Apsc sensors" are u joking man,

Anonymous, 30 Sep 2015Too bad no OIS. With it it would be perfect. Software stabilisation does not match hardware one..Agreed. Considering the old Nexus 5 has OIS, it's a pity that the next one focused on things like fingerprint scanner.
Clearly the best when it comes to shooting in the dark, and that is exactly what most of us want.
mir, 30 Sep 2015Amazing quality photos. Better than a DSLR. What prehistoric micky mouse DSLR are you comparing these photo's to???
No mobile phone on the market today can compete with a even a modern budget DSLR (like say a Canon 100D or Nikon 3300 for instance) the closest any would come would be the Lumia 1020. As for comparison with a mid or high end DSLR, forget it.
Anonymous, 30 Sep 2015I wonder if the two nexus can beat the iphone sales last week?are you drunk? :) nobody can beat Apple sales.
Anonymous, 30 Sep 2015I wonder if the two nexus can beat the iphone sales last week?I seriously doubt it.
The iPhone 6S & 6S Plus have apparently sold 13 million units already, these new Nexus models will be lucky to achieve 13 million sales over the course of their entire shelf life.
