They must know the value of their brand to the masses so they can price accordingly. Many people are gonna buy an 800 dollar iphone but not many will get a sony/HTC for that price. Motorola is the only sensible company among the well established brands right now with the moto x pure. You can get a 64gb version of that for under 500 dollars if you opt for an ordinary back design.
