Didn't Msoft provide updates to millions of Windows PCs for well over a decade now with minimal issues...? If things did break, boot loaders were always unlocked and install media could be found or purchased with just a little work to get machines back up and running.

With android bootloaders are always locked, OEMs do not provide system images or ways to install them on corrupted handsets and if you try to find a way they claim you violated the warranty and will not fix it, and that is if you are in a supported region.
