Yes this can be very expensive but one thing nice about Windows Machine is that you have other choices ( other brands or configurations it is not limited to one manufacturer) unlike a mac hardware!!! That is why it is still stupid to invest on a Mac Hardware!!
Lenovo and Dell....cheaper, better, high-performance, high durability...should I go further!!!???
AnonD-54125, 24 Oct 2015are you joking? the i7 in the surface is way better compared to your lowly 4702 MQ. What kind... moreYou must be joking. All the laptops use low power processors which are slower compared to the desktop versions, because that's how you gain more power efficiency: you do less work, idle more, save power, etc. Even if you go to a smaller manufacture process, a desktop version which consumes 2 times the power will destroy it in every test. That's life, you cannot have both: batter life and performance.

What kind of battery life do you get? 3 hours? 2 hours? 1 hour?
Compare the three in specs and price and you'll see which one is better.
Dual core vs quadcore but 15W vs 37W
You actually get to use your laptop for 12 hours. Plus the graphics power is better. Discrete.
Anyway, like I said, I already ordered one. Just for the skylake alone. I still had a crap Q9000

Terry, 07 Oct 2015What makes Microsoft confidently overprice it above MacBook?Top quality components they use on the Surface Book.
AnonD-123700, 07 Oct 2015Why dont they bundle the damn keyboard and pen... you gotta pay about 200$ more to get them? w... morethe keyboard is included. you dont have to buy it separately. the pen is also included.
this isnt for cheap people. this is for people who could afford a macbook PRO.
this isnt an ipad or cheap android competitor. this competes directly with ultrabooks and macbook pros.
the $2700 version is already sold out so I preordered the 256gb i7 version.
Anonymous, 07 Oct 2015Wait, you are saying the Nvidia GeForce GPU is only 512MB??? And the whole thing cost that mu... morethere is more than 512 mb look:
"The word from our Nvidia spokesperson is this: “Microsoft has announced a new laptop named the Microsoft Surface Book. The new laptop includes an NVIDIA GeForce GPU.” Microsoft has teased us in a couple of different ways, referring to the dGPU as an “optional NVIDIA GeForce Graphics Processor with dedicated 1GB GDDR5 high-speed memory”, with “the full power of hardware-accelerated graphics”
Nice but expensive
Have a W10 13.3 inch i5 8GB for 1/3 of that price
Anonymous, 07 Oct 2015what about razer blade :) ? Wait, you are saying the Nvidia GeForce GPU is only 512MB??? And the whole thing cost that much???

Brujer, 07 Oct 2015So why would ANYONE in their right mind pay at leas 1500$ for a laptop that offers absolutely ... moreBecause someone might need a powerful, lightweight laptop that's also doubles as a tablet. At least with this we know we're paying for the powerful components, unlike with Apple's creations where it's just s**t crammed in a nice aluminum box.
AnonD-443963, 06 Oct 2015Now how will APPLE copy... ha ha ha... It's power of windows .. just wait and watchLol we wait till sales figures arrive. Will this sell much? Doubtful
Brujer, 07 Oct 2015So why would ANYONE in their right mind pay at leas 1500$ for a laptop that offers absolutely ... moreReturn on investment is subjective. Objectively, as long as someone produces more than 1500 worth of work on it, it has already paid for itself. Alternatively, if it produces satisfaction beyond the 1500 paid for it, it has also done its job.
Surface Book is not for me, but I am pleased to see the fighting spirit at Microsoft. Hopefully more good things come out of their camp soon.
Why dont they bundle the damn keyboard and pen... you gotta pay about 200$ more to get them? wtf is this... this is worse marketing than Apple...
Terry, 07 Oct 2015What makes Microsoft confidently overprice it above MacBook?Exactly, they think people will shell out money just like they do for Apple devices :P
Way way pricey...
