I'm no Apple fan, but I'm pretty sure they didn't just throw the chips in without testing them a lot. Bet there isn't much real difference.

What happened to all the apple design and samsung just assemble the chips fanboy's? Apple would have 100% known how the samsung chip was manufactured and how it worked in real world testing. Pretty common for companies to source from different suppliers does seem odd they would use a cpu that is manufactured differently though.

Cool down ppl...here is the explanation of the chipgate A9 SoC.....

Actually Apple used 2 different designs for the 2 chips...1 design for 14nm and another for 16nm...they use different architectural designs coz of their sizes hence the difference in performance but there's no flaw in any of the chips...

Sammy and TSMC used different manufacturing processes and both require different designs for the SoC they produce....

TSMC chip is lesser power hungry and drains less battery but performance wise Samsung chip is faster and eat slightly more battery

I think Apple cut costs here by using two different processors and didn't spend money to optimize them both with it's OS. it could be a Marketing Trick run by Apple to bash Samsung products and which is very likely.

When the chipset runs fast, Apple's genius. When the chipset runs slow, Samsung did a poor job. Funny.

Could it be that since the Samsung c chips are built on ever so slightly smaller process than TSMC that they are producing less heat and thus throttling less leading higher sustained clock speeds and thus battery drain in the geekbench tests? Because only the geekbench tests could be pushing the CPU to full 100% while the others are not since it is a benchmarking test and as we can see the other tests are yielding similar results.

This is tantamount to sabotage on the part of Samsung. Had Apple scrutinized their hardware better, Samsung wouldn't have had the chance to illicitly concoct such shenanigans.

Not much of a difference. If all you do is CPU isolated work with the screen off then yes, there will be a battery life difference but CPU do not exist in vacuum. In addition, it would also depend on the batch as later batch will likely have better power efficiency just like desktop processors.
