FrankDrebin, 08 Oct 2015Sony needs to focus on user experience, they already have the build quality AND features, but ... moreGood point about ultimate hardware. S808 would be more than enough for Z5 Compact but probably could provide better battery life and help to keep price a little down.

Guys, please don't ask Sony to become budget oriented company. Sony is like people from aristocratic families: they might become poor but it doesn't mean they become trash. Sony is a premium brand and it will always be premium or will die.
However, a lot of criticism is really "hard earned". Z5 Compact - I don't know how the hell this newer generation looks more outdated that previous one (Z3 Compact) I'm not talking about specs, but Z5 C looks outdated and feel exactly that way.
Z5 family is definitely not something going to help Sony to return to profitability. They need to rethink it. Like I said in previous comment: they would better not to launch Z5 family. I'm not saying these devices are all bad, but they are just not interesting enough to attract customers. They are not especially interesting even among Sony lineup, let alone other manufacturers. The only good thing for me is perfectly implemented fingerprint scanner and may be slightly better camera. Everything else seems to be the same or even worse. Especially battery life. So, Sony really needs true flagship device which will feel different from current lineup. Probably it mustn't have top end specs, but it must feel really different, stylish and interesting than current devices. It all about how it feels rather than what is on paper. Z5 family is not all bad but feels too boring...

Oh, last thing, the law of international marketing:
the (much) more (Tax) payments goes to (some) governments the (more) market share you get :D

when sony applies this law both security breachs and bugs will vanish :D

That said I miss Siemens. They made some of the best and most reliable phones in history and frankly I preferred them over Nokia.

I think the problem is that stupid CEO . He sold the PC department and want to sale the mobile department later the TV and on and on in 5 years there will be no Sony . if the Sony need to stay in the market they have to kick the CEO out .

            If sony would listen:
            1- Bad Camira in Dark
            2- None Ergonomic Handy device
3- Font is not easy to read
4- you can have 1 and 2 from Nokia
5- Don't over price like Samsung and Apple, soon or later will go deep down, what you see is just paid-media-voices, business rules applied at end of story

This announcement does not help to build people's confidence in investing on a sony smartphone. Knowing that the maker of your chosen smartphone might be sold off and its service areas closed for restructuring like what happened with motorola and nokia, isn't particularly appealing.

what a shocker, those who praise sony's phones aren't buying them. You guys are the reason why this company is dying.

Sony products rock but like the person before me said, often times the quality control is either done poorly and handsets are released into the market with big hardware and software flaws that become a headache and sour the taste of the consumers. Much like the LG Viewty, Renoir, Arena, and Viewty plus back in 2009, it rocked but the flaws could be just too much. I think phones today are much improved. The Sony phone that connected with the PS was cool but it packed a ton of issues too

the only problem with Sony is its vanity it should be more Humble and accept the ground reality that its name alone wouldn't command a high steep price instead it needs to concentrate on its mid range devices and make them more affordable

Anonymous, 08 Oct 2015To much nonsense comments who Know nothing about a business Sony needs to focus on user experience, they already have the build quality AND features, but their phones are way too expensive and not popular enough, I'm not saying their phones are not worth it, I have a Z3 Compact and I know I got what I paid for, every penny, but most people dont know that, thats why they get iphones, so instead of going for the latest chipsets like 810, keep it on quad cores, a z3 compact with the camera of a z5 would be a beast and the z3 compact is $400 now. so keep improving on user experience, stop pushing for ultimate hardware because that only raises costs and price obviously.

Sony has one of the best handsets to compete with big brands and the company has potential to grow huge. But at times their handsets I think are not properly quality checked. Sometimes they face problems which are kept unsolved. Sony has pathetic team for the pricing structure and advertising of its phone. Many people don't even know which are the flagship phones by Sony. Only once Xperia z was in advertise and later all is lost. In lower segment there are no wide variety of handsets. All majority above 10k price. Also it seems Sony is more interested in online business rather than counter retails, so that affects a lot on business.

Sony you need your old days back. Make some decent Walkman Android phones, some CyberShot Androids, and for gods sake dont make them too expensive like Z5 family. Z5 Compacts costs same as Samsung S6, Come on. Z5 is sold for 700 Euros. 700. Its not hard to guess why you are failing in mobile department.
