I am still using a Z10 because Android just isn't as good at the communication side of things. However I have been open to the thought if Android did get the HUB, I would seriously consider that device. This device will get the hub. I just want to know if it is secured in a part of the phone like KNOX on Samsung and allows me some controls like privacy guard where I can install apps and then retract all the permissions they required to get them in the first place.
Anonymous, 12 Oct 2015Blackberry CEO Chen seems intent to kill off the mobile division with his "back to the future"... moreI completely agree with you. If they released an all touchscreen phone with market matching specs running BB10 I'd jump at it. I would be willing to even try the Priv if it ran BB10. I have never used a Blackberry with a physical keyboard so my love for the company's handsets has nothing to do with a physical keyboard. The simplicity and connectedness of the BB10 Os on my former z10 has been unmatched by my current android device (sony xperia running 5.0) or iphone 6 (ios 9.1). I hope they rethink this strategy and provide a BB10 option for the priv at the minimum or release a z30 upgrade which isn't oddly shaped / heavy like the passport.

Blackberry targets business executives so if you think $630 for a flagship Blackberry device is too expensive, guess what -- you're not a business executive and you're not their target market. You hang off the side of a train to work (or take any kind of public transport to work)? guess what -- you're not their target market. Get it?
$US630 is just too much, Its a cool phone but I don't see this taking market share from the likes of Samsung or Apple

Anonymous, 12 Oct 2015Unfortunately, that's not what majority of people think and BB can't survive with those minority. You are definitely right, a few hundred of thousands BB fans aren't enough to keep the company in shape, especially if they don't see their BB OS on a set.
Soon after Q1 '16 we will hear about massive firings at BB. They can survive with Android but they will have to cut down all their costs and set new pricing strategies.
630 USD is launching price? That's okay then, the phone should be available at decent price after three months anyway, and that's when I am going to buy it :D
I am afraid, if this rather high price tag is confirmed, it won't help BB much in its efforts to recover, it will simply pit itself against very well established competitors who are offering formidable machines for the same money.

Android (and globally all OS'es) is not perfect whatever build you want to settle with. So it's best to know you get a device which will be actively supported for at least 2 years, i don't mean "OS upgraded" but debugged. I said 2 years just in case the manufacturer is lazy just like Motorola with Moto X 2013 which isn't fixed at all and got 2 updates in its total life span.
Would you like so much your iphone if Apple wasn't fixing bugs coming with its release build? (Like for the imessage bug for IOS 9 at the beginning). That's the plague of many low to mid range smartphones nowadays, not being supported enough (or at all), especially most of chinese brands.
So yes now, you buy a smartphone because you buy it for both hardware and software, dumbphones era is a thing of the past.
630$!! Great! Noooooot!
