I guess they were focussing on 240fps and live photos. But the actual quality is comparable to the 18month older Galaxy s5.

They havent masterd the new sensors yet.Which is something i expected since they were stock with the old one for a long time.Thats a side affect for prolonged updates.

In real life that position is actually a lot lower if you include the top position being shared by the Note 5, Edge & Edge+ + all the other shared sensor devices that supercede that of the iPhone.
Of course - it's still the "best iphone camera in the world - ever" according to Tim Cook and Co ;)
