See the import prices and compare it with selling prices. The commission is almost 40-50%

Why? Because Samsung Galaxy Note 5& S6 are the better choices - Their camera & sound was excellent

Here in Holland the old 6 costs 7000 INR more than the S6. Also the 6S is even 16000 INR more expensive. I've converted from euro to rupees:) What does iPhones have to offer that they ask such high price? Nothing. Camera is worse on iPhone, smaller screen with parhetic low 750p resolution. Speed and battery life is comparable. Apple offers 16GB memory on their base model while Samsung gives 32 GB. So why pay more for less? Apple logo? So happy that I've switched from 6 to S6. I don't like Apple's policy to screw their own customers.

Smart people compare global costs. If a phone is available for 60k in most markets they wouldn't pay 82k just for availing warranty (6s 128GB). There are innumerable ways to avail iPhones from other countries now. Apple's pricing strategy in India this year is most miserable.

If apple wants to grow in India then they have to make phones in India
                    Else forget about market share
As import duties from China are increasing so even Chinese companies are making phones in India to stay competitive

Are you sure it was the price that held them off ? Maybe they are waiting for Lumia 950, Continuum is the reason. :)

I mean shedding out INR 6200... more150k units for a population of nearly 1.3 billion shows that Apple is not at all serious about the Indian market, and they know exactly who the people are that can afford their devices.

Of course, anyone who purchased an iPhone 6 last year may not necessarily upgrade to the 6S.

So yes, no surprises here, but I also think Tim Cook isn't losing any sleep over it.

Everywhere else it is just overpriced. India is the third largest mobile market and they are putting the highest price tag in India. Why? There is no 'right' in there.

Guessing you are not living in India, I would ask you to come to India and buy an iPhone for $950 with 16GB. It is insanely overpriced, you can buy two galaxy s6 for the price of one iPhone 6s+
