Plus it wouldn't be good for them if they kept making peripherals obsolete.

They've gone the Apple model upgrade route on their Galaxy S line this year. I'd be more willing to predict and won't be surprised if they release an S7[s] some mid-year next year

It is because sd card patend and licencing belongs to sandisk , toshiba and panasonic so who ever has sd card slot anywhere in their devices they have to pay annually licence fee..
Simple as that..
Without sdslot no licence fee ;)

Samsung is closer to dying than apple just btw. The s6 was a flop and thus Samsung are being forced to release the s7 a month earlier.

The only reason for the phone not having the sd slot is technical - they came up with quite cutting edge memory and memory controller, but it didn't have support for sd cards yet. Out of the two, it was much better decision for device longevity and performance over time to use UFS memory than a typical one and an SD.

The S6 will be so hard to beat, but if this one is even more awesome and takes the design evolution even further I might as well for the first time buy a new generation just a year after the previous. The lucky 7.

let's see if this S7 is better than S6 like battery life and availability of SD card slots otherwise if it is the same I will not bother buying it

I think there's a gaping here between Apple user, other android brand user and of course Samsung user.
Look at their comment, each other trying to show the best of their smartphone brand...
