Just disabled the fingerprint scanner all together in my Xperia Z5 Premium Dual. It was the culprit.
I am an avid Sony mobile fan and this phone has made me teeter to the edge of abandoning the brand entirely and switch to Samsung. Solved the issue on Z5 Premium dual by deleting a particular CPU monitoring app and removing the write over permission of the finger print scanner. Now, the screen is stable. In the rush to put products to market in its fight for market share, Sony has made blunders that drove away customers. The 80's quality system is shot to shreds. What happened?
Sony Xperia z5 compact suddenly cracked without fall, pressure applied or anything like that after using the phone for barely 1 week. When I spoke with the customer service today and quoted to her that there is a lot of record on the internet suggesting that many customers have encountered the same problem on the same phone, she said "you can find anything on the internet". Even though the assessor could not determine any signs of falls or pressure that could have caused the screen to crack, she refused to acknowledge this as a manufacturing defect which is being reported by so many users. Never buy this phone and beware of sony products because if you have a genuine issue the customer service respond without a sense of empathy.
The update did not work. I have a Z5 Compact - yes a white one - and several times a day my whole screen is compacted at the top of the screen. Everything is responsive, but I can't push the icon cause all the icons is squashed over each other. It happens about 15 times a day and take between 5 to 10 minutes to recover and become normal again. I wish there were someone at Sony who gave a damn about their product an will contact me to sort it out. karinamarais83 at gmail dot com
I've lost my faith in all sony phones. Will never recommend a Sony phone to my clients. 90% of of our phones that goes in for repair, are Sony models. Where on earth have you ever heard something like "all the white ones are faulty". Racist crap phones.
AnonD-81610, 25 Oct 2015This is a pretty common problem with Z3C! Read it up!as i mentioned, i've never had such a ridiculous "screengate" issue while using a dock.
as i mentioned, maybe the person used a wrong slot that came with the dock in the box.
the dk-48 dock comes with 4 slots- z3, z3 with case, z3c and z3c with case in the box which are even labelled underneath the slot. the z3 with case slot tightly fits the z3c without using a case so maybe the use of a wrong slot could cause such a screen or back crack issue. otherwise using the correct slot surely wont cause such issue.
and so i searched just to make sure your claim and yeah, i did find some "self cracked" complaints but none of the "screed cracked in dock" complaints.
anyways, i'm really happy with my compact and my estimate is that it will still last me at least 2-3 more years.

It's not unreasonable for a software issue to impact only one color of the device, since they are usually run all the iterations at one time, which will correspond to a specific software micro-release. The release lined up with the white run must have had a little problem. Glad they are fixing it this fast. Pretty good turn-around for a huge company.
To all the haters: seriously, get a life. It's not worth it spending your life hating on a company.

How many... morethat was my thought for months but since i saw Z5 i fall in love with the blue colour one. It's appearance was the 1st thing that striked me, then the stereo speakers, and then the good camera. I keep my mobile phones for more than 5 years so I always buy high end ones, I want them to last for long. the regular Z5 so far has no issues reported so..
I won't get it anytime soon though, it's price is ridiculous and it's not even fully updated yet. according to sony camera and sound updates pending. I'm a Sony fan but I have to admit that they are rushing devices..
