Anonymous, 24 Oct 20155 MILLION? Good lord. When I worked for AT&T, the largest overage charge I saw a customer ... moreThe moment you realise Apple isn't planning on footing the bill and you go to court, compensation for the amount isn't enough anymore. But I doubt they'll get anywhere near 5 mil, if they get anything.

But Apple should have just left it off and prompted you to turn it on with a warning the first time you're on bad wifi with data on.

"It's worth mentioning that the Cupertino-based company had later updated its website explaining the feature.."

Lol. So Apple obliged. If anything this goes to show that they are somehow responsible for not having this feature explained. Then again, 5 million is just coins for them.

Well it's Apple's fault and they are completely right and may win the court but 5 million that's never gonna happen they probably get a few thousands top.

This is funny lol but yeah unless you have unlimited cellular data I'd recommend turning wifi assist off... But if you don't need to turn it off it's a really nice feature :)

5 MILLION? Good lord. When I worked for AT&T, the largest overage charge I saw a customer incur was something like $150 for going around 8 gigs over on data, which is a pretty large amount obviously. These people probably didn't even get charged that much and they want 5 million. Just pathetic

This feature has been on Samsung for a few years now and on lollipop it was turned on by default. If you go to wifi then setting you'll see Samsung smart network turned on and it does exactly the same thing. I don't know why people are now suddenly loosing their mind over it now Apple has done it. You can't even argue that because it was part of a software update people didn't want it without saying the same for people on galaxy devices. It's also worth noting that the feature is also on LG and some Sony devices and again turned on by default.
