Gimmick or not! Fold or flip phones are not a new idea. Samsung is just incorporating old ideas into new tech. At present all touch screen mobiles just come as a slab only style.

Foldable, sweet, but won't be glass-protected then and with metal frames/back. Well, something for something.

Don't expect too much. Even if the display was foldable and you could make phone a tablet. The tablet would be 16:18 aspect ratio, so yeah.... It's just a gimmick in my opinion which everyone takes too seriously. Face the reality. It's not going to be as great as the rumours show.

For better or for worse, I really appreciate Samsung taking up the chalks and designing things for the future. Innovations big or small, are indeed a panache few can boast of. I'm an unbiased tech lover who's owned several distinct manufacture phones in the past , so to see Samsung constantly keep scratching the urge to innovate, that's something to I find worth applauding. Good luck with your next project and I hope it's mass released.

To the fanboys across flame wars, doesn't matter who wins or looses. The consumer ALWAYS wins! Although IMO the next big wave will be "Affordable Flagships", like MotoX etc.

neontetra, 28 Oct 2015why were the sales of the s6 abysmal? im just curious. they sold as many as the s4 around 45 m... moreSamsung expects that the s6 and s6 edge to sold at 70M making it the worlds most sold phones. But so far. It didn't reach the 50M mark. So what will happen to those mass produced S6 and S6 edge go if the note 5 was the one that is gaining its selling point? How much money did it cost to make the parts and the assembly for each model?

The design is like what they did for the B&O model a few years ago. samsung needs to lead and not follow from the front. Apple is happy making their one model every year and using S in front every other year. Consumers are getting tired.

Except for the fact that samsung hasn't release any foldable phones since their last foldable display from the convention. Also, the fact that only certain countries may only have these models means that not everybody can own this. Even their samsung galaxy s6 and s6 edge didn't sold well.
