Restrictions, restrictions, didint helped at all for Microsoft
Anonymous, 18 May 2010"Xbox360 is VERY nice, considered the best gaming console by many at the moment" ... morethe quality of game as you put it can be measured by the console attach rate which is the number of games per console sold which xbox 360 has the highest in history because of the quality of games. you talk about the PS3 specs but the real spec that matters is not the theoretical values but actual use by the game which is much higher on the xbox 360 because most cross platform games are developed on the 360 and then ported to the other platforms.
Brad, 26 Feb 2010I don't know about you, but I think they have delivered good stuff in the last period.
Xbox... more"Xbox360 is VERY nice, considered the best gaming console by many at the moment"
WRONG. What is best can be measured in 2 ways: sales and/or game quality. The Wii outsells the 360. The PS3 outspecs the 360.
"Zune HD is also nice"
Again sales and content. The Zune has a terrible sales record and very limited content available. No developer will touch it.
"Windows 7 is a success"
The same thing was said about Vista. The sales numbers here are mainly associated with machines sold with Windows 7. I myself bought 2 laptops which came with Windows 7. I trashed the discs and formated the disc. For Microsoft, my 2 laptops still count as a sale. OEM sales mean nothing really. Also, Windows 7 delivers what many Linux distros and Mac OS X delivered 5 years ago. Too little, too late. The only reason why the sales numbers will still go higher is because large corporations will be force to upgrade from XP to 7 due to Microsoft stopping supporting XP.
"what is it that you think MS has delivered in the last period that you think is below avarage quality?"
Everything really. Windows is still DLL hell, activation hell, etc. Office's new ribbon interface is terrible. The Zune is seen as joke. The 360 is the most unreliable console out there, not to mention that if you bought the HD-DVD addon you were screwed. Windows Mobile 6 is the biggest joke ever! Windows Phone 7 is again too little too late. What else to they have to offer? That useless interactive table?
Steve Ballmer can go and screw himself :P
Anonymous, 02 Mar 2010WM OS are best OS for professionals... Wrong. RIM has the most used OS for business smartphones.
One, 02 Mar 2010What he meant is that by the time the first Win 7 Phone comes out 1Ghz CPUs will be more commo... moreOh yea i know the hardware was made by other manufactory of course, but it dosen't mean anything, the WM handsets are always high prices(except the low-ends). Even in the future, i ensure that the hardware of the requirement, are still the top, before the 1GHz CPU and WVGA screen become more common.
And here's the other news: http://www.gsmarena.com/htc_hd2_doesnt_qualify_for_a_windows_phone_7_upgrade-news-1479.php
The problem of "the buttons"... XD
The HD2 form factor, size and screen size is just superb, it should be the standard, try a 4.3" screen and you will never want smaller!
guest, 28 Feb 2010The high price of WM handsets are always the truth, even the WM6.X handsets in nowadays... you... moreWhat he meant is that by the time the first Win 7 Phone comes out 1Ghz CPUs will be more common and therefore cheaper, allong with the rest of required components.
And Microsoft isn't the one charging for Win Mobile phones. HTC, LG, SE and every other brand with WinMo is. Microsoft does only the software. It's the harware makers that might put up the expensive prices.
Also, Microsoft has nothing on Apple when it comes to high prices. Just so you know.
any one know...is this available for samsung omnia 2 or not because it has 3.7" screen and 800MHz processor....
Dr.X, 27 Feb 2010i think must of you guys are being too critical about this , i mean what's wrong with minimum ... moreThe high price of WM handsets are always the truth, even the WM6.X handsets in nowadays... you think the upcoming device with new os and better hardware, but "good" price??
Don't forget, that's MICROSOFT :)
1GHz minimum - great idea
Minimum Screen Resolution - great idea
Minimum Screen Size of 3.6" - bad idea
The minimum size should be 3.2"
There are many phones with 3.2" and 3.5" screens. This also results in smaller as well as a wider range of phones giving people more choice of phones and obviously bigger returns for MS. 3.2" and 3.5" screens are standard and skipping these sizes is a mistake with 4.0" the next common size up which is just too big for each and every phone.
i think must of you guys are being too critical about this , i mean what's wrong with minimum 1 gh cpu? i s ay kudos on that! and the price rate is not revealed yet and till the time that MS reveals the price of this thing every thing would be much cheaper that you would get surprised by the price rate. of course i'm talking out of nothing here but what i say is we just have to wait till the microsoft reveals the true specs and price of this handsets and then we can talk it out for real. one thing for sure , if i can play Xbox games on this device then count me in so much!!!!!
windows phone 7 is a small OS for a huge phone... haha
OsX, Android, Symbian, LiMO, Bada, Maemo, etc. will kill WM7 because price of MS phone's is stupid.
Zoran, 25 Feb 2010Oh, really? That's the same ms story that I've been hearing for some 20 years now...I don't know about you, but I think they have delivered good stuff in the last period.
Xbox360 is VERY nice, considered the best gaming console by many at the moment.
Zune HD is also nice
Windows 7 is a success
So what is it that you think MS has delivered in the last period that you think is below avarage quality?
BTW, somebody talking about a minimun screen size of 4.1 inch? I dont know where you found that... it is probably 3.5 inch. That is the same as the iPhone's screen.
guest, 25 Feb 2010IF thats true, WP7 handsets will become more expensive, that means no more mid-range and low-e... more@guest
It's not necessarily true that WinMo phones will be more expensive. A year from now, 1 GHz chip will be pretty standard. They won't be high-end. Microsoft is just aiming to stay ahead of the curve here.
IF thats true, WP7 handsets will become more expensive, that means no more mid-range and low-end products allowed... thats totally opposite what androids does.
Brad, 25 Feb 2010Ok dude your post seems like a BS post to me. MS is delivering bad products? MS only delivered... moreOh, really? That's the same ms story that I've been hearing for some 20 years now...
I like smartphones with a small touchscreen. When I heard that the minimal requirement for the screen size would be 4.1'', I was very suprised. Come on, 4.1'', that's a PC, not a phone. SE got it right with Xperia Mini.
