Your comment claiming it is unanimously agreed that Android is far ahead, if applied against functionality is far from correct, in fact I think you will find it unanimously disputed.
The 'walled garden' term comes from Apple's restriction to access of the IOS ecosystem outside of their imposed rules, this comes with as many benefits as it does draw backs. By contrast Androids open nature also introduces both benefits and weaknesses, the increased vulnerability to malware is an example one such weakness.
However that term has little bearing on the functionality on offer within IOS, which has expanded greatly in the last 3 versions.

it doesn't mean anything ...... there are some people who just want a phone and dont know anhything about android or ios. they just go to store and buy what ever they like. someone should ask tim cook how many left iphone last year .. hehehe

The comments from appleites not admitting China is purely responsible for any good interim luck, after admitting core buyers are keeping their current phones big time, makes android users even more happy.

well I have never rated itunes as a piece of software, in fact i think it's a menace to deal with.
that said I stand by my previous post, IOS has a lot more to offer in terms of features and functionality than many people know and many critics are willing to admit.
it's continued reliance on iTunes though.......not one them.

Reason was obvious.
Most of the buyer are from HTC, Sony and phone of Snapdragon 810.
SHitty 810 really make a lot of phone failure in term of performance and usability especially battery performance =(.
Iphone year by year increasing the luxury price i doubt who will afford in the future. It soon will reach the price where mobile phone invented.

Anonymous, 28 Oct 2015check a iphone 4s with 9 IOS 9.1 and then tell if apple Lag YES OR NOT dude iphone 4s is 4 years old phone ( sep, 2011 ) so what you are expecting ? but still 4s got update to ios 9 not like with android . My brother still is waiting for 5.0 in note 3 ( 2 years old phone )

Typical tim cook.... hype the positive news, downplay the negative news.
How many apple watches did apple sell last quarter?? They will NEVER tell. But Cook is suddenly offering unsolicited information.
Tim cook should also have gone specific to give the breakdown of android phone brands which make up the android switchers e.g. how many of those previously using samsung flagships switched to iphone over the last quarter?
With android being the worlds dominant OS, no one expects that iphone buyers are switching from blackberry.
And buying an iphone does not mean iv thrown my android away bcos the limited iphone customization options mean that i still cannot have a complete smartphone experience if i own only an iphone.
