My $200 dollar Samsung Ativ S from 2012 and my $30 dollar Lumia 435 I bought the other day remain more fluid than any Android, and as fluid as any iPhone. No reason to change here.

So, Apple now taking pride for stealing user from Android.
Funny, on Steve Jobs era I don't remember Apple acknowledge Android at all.. :P

So this means Apple regards Android very highly now?

Makes sense. Android is buggy, leggy and filled with bloatware.

How can Android be productive? The only OS that offers productivity is Windows Phone. And it's far superior to Android and iOS as well.

Honestly, I am moving to iOS very soon as well. I am fed up of google services gathering my data in the background the whole time lagging the whole android experience, I mean there are other ways for google to gather info for advertisement than slowing the hell my high spec flagship. I remember back in the day when I purchased my first android phone ( Acer Liquid), it had a single core snapdragon 750mhz and a 256mb ram and was smooth as hell. Clearly the Android boys aren't doing things the way they used to anymore.

It's a prejidious statement from cook. Apple is American company and people patronize it.. These numbers of one third maybe croocked. IOS 10 might rival Android 6. But one thing is higher the numbers better the performance, but apple has maintained the reverse, lesser no's better performance, why I need 4 gb ram when 2 can run smooth all the apps. It's system which is efficient!

I am questioning the wording ...
it sounded like he meant meant 33% of those NEW to iPhone (iOS PLATFORM) were Android users, meaning the other 66% were Windows/Blackberry/Symbian ... rather than that of EVERYONE that bought the new iPhone handset 33% were from an old Android handset?
                                  Marketing spin at it's best.

I can also never understand corporations .. at what point is enough money enough ... they are making billions yet the price of the handset goes up disproportionately to the hardware costs (eg. memory). And minor fluctuations in exchange rates the prices go up. Surely with that mush money they could cut their margins.
