Umbilical Noose, 29 Oct 2015@Anonymouse just below me: If you like to flash ROM and customize your phone a lot then anythi... moreOh please, what's the use of "flashing your ROM" if it brakes your phone (see: http://www.gsmarena.com/newscomm-9831p3.php)
or trip a fuse (KNOX) so these manufacturers can ditch their responsibilities (AKA warranty)?

It's obvious that Android is "open" to manufacturers NOT to end-users/hackers. And handset manufacturers are making it increasingly harder and harder for us to tamper with their devices. Using several slightly different SoC's is one way to do discourage the good folks at e.g XDA. The romans called it "Divide and Conquer".

heynekko, 29 Oct 2015You are in the wrong news section.. This is not Apple news.. Although Apple does use Samsung's chipNo he isn't. Have you seen prices of Samsung flagship recently?

They became more expensive each year. Yet we've lost the important things that a made a high-end Galaxy a high-end Galaxy, like removable batteries, micro-sd-card and got unimportant crap instead like screens with an ridiculous and insignificant amount of pixels, an OS that has no advantage on amoled-technology... and on top of that, we got smaller batteries.

Then these bozo's wonder why their sales don't reach their expectations.

But that is completely false. It's is "open" for customization by handset-manufacturers not end-users/hackers.

Just as I'm afraid we'll never know why Google, Samsung, whatever, whoever keep on working "project battery saver but it just doesn't work yet" while it should be obvious. Use BLACK to save battery-power on devices with amoled-display NOT white.

@Anonymouse just below me: If you like to flash ROM and customize your phone a lot then anything except Snapdragon is useless. Galaxy S6 didn't even get official CM support.

What's the point of buying an android phone that you can't customize.

Are they seriously going to sell SD820 variants of S7? I mean what's the reason behind it apart from stealing profits from themselves and give users a significantly worse SoC? (just look at the difference of SD810 and Exynos 7420). It looks like such a sadomasochistic move from them.

Same goes with the kernel, theyll provide libraries for compilers for their architecture, like in 'toolchain' or 'GCC' itself.

I think any new Exynos, custom design or not, still has to be ARM or x86 thats what Android supports. Otherwise there would have to be translation software otherwise Android and Play store apps don't work.

Qualcomm, Mediatek, Apple, Samsung, Texas Instruments use ARM architecture.

I don't think Samsung will come up with a new architecture, but thats how this article reads.

samsung should concentrate on software instead of working on hardware, make it well optimize not resource greedy. they have very good hardwares like displays, rams etc.

If Samsung had their own OS that was closer to iOS than android then many would just stop using them. Luckily their is seems to be a lot closer to android, there's a big push in India for tizen and they will probably focus more on it after they finish in-house GPUs in 2017.

Or they might leave it for mid-range, peripherals and the internet of things.
