mickey_mouse, 02 Mar 2010This is obvious revenge from M$ because HTC is making Android phones as well as Google phone. If Microsoft want to revenge, they will provide upgrade to WM7.
When Windows Phone 7 is on sale, HTC will have trouble because potential buyers can upgrade their HD2 to the new OS without having to pay HTC for it.

Best news ever! Now i can safely go and buy HD2 - no chances to get useless but mandatory official wp7 rom upgrade from HTC.

        I hope it is true.

This is not done...this is absolutly ridiculus thing that not to upgrade a phone just not having 3 button layout.

its obvious they won't make the same product with other OS. so they'll make a similiar handset with less buttons..daahh

My HTC Hero (android based phone) will get v2.1 update this month.
It's not happening yet, but HTC has officially confirm that!
Hero is HTC top line of Android phone at the moment, until Desire and Legend come along.

Their willingness to give Hero an upgrade is just give fact that you can't jump into conclusion only looking at HD2 case.
Anyway, it's microsoft which should take the blame IMO.

Guess its a policy of HTC not to let your "high end" phones be software upgradeable.

                                No more HTC for me..

Thank you for the report we can now discount the HTC H2 as a possible replacement for existing devices within Company I'm working for. It has been difficult remaining loyal to Microsoft but unfortunately waiting for them to get their act together is like watching paint dry underwater. We were hoping a Windows Phone 7 device or devices with free upgrades will be available for testing by now. If history serves me correctly, it will be some time in 2011 before we get to see any Windows Phone 7 devices in Australia by then it will be to late. The Blackberry is proving to be a winner again, Android has great potential but it's unlikely we will see the the HTC Desire, SE X10 or Milestone in Australia before the end of the year if at all. iPhone nice toy but unfortunately the greedy Telco's are double dipping with their data charges by charging extra for tethering so the iPhone is out of the picture. Unfortunately the local Telco's in Australia are all tarred with the same brush offering no real competition except a lot of spin and poor customer service.

@iPhone lover who is jumping down there, don't jump much because we are talking about serious Phones and very serious SmartPhones. When your device will mature to that point we will talk about that too.

@HighTech About comments it shows to me too. THe thing is news posts like these are free to post right away but comments on review posts go through a check. No biggie on that side.
