This is the obvious way to go for phone cameras. Stop the megapixels madness. 12 is more than enough. I would even say 8. Focusing on sensors with better low light performance is the best thing they can do.
So far so long. I haven't see any types of devices camera which has better quality than Nokia...
AnonD-451653, 06 Nov 2015My DSLR has like half the resolution of the recent Sonys and guess which one produces better detail? In terms of details - the phone camera wins no matter how much you like your dslr (as long as it is one of the best camera phones S6, 6S, G4 etc). In terms of image quality and versatility, dslr of course.
AnonD-451653, 06 Nov 2015My DSLR has like half the resolution of the recent Sonys and guess which one produces better detail?Completely different section of cameras. And if it's a better sensor them it would be even better at a higher resolution
And for low light just use a better lense. Maybe just use a larger sensor to compensate for the higher resolution.
And thank you for proving my point. Yet just because I called you out you tried to play games and deny that's what you were saying
AnonD-451653, 05 Nov 2015How did you come to the conclusion I'm deciding what people need?Because its what you are implying

I will not buy this phone if they go backwards on megapixels.
I know a lot of people, who feel exactly the same.

Anonymous, 04 Nov 2015big copy of htc.htc made one series with ultra pixel and all of people said it's fake and ....... moreI hesitate to provide a lengthy answer as it would probably be lost on you. Simply put, more light per pixel, the better. In addition, a 12MP image is still an extremely useful resolution as cropping can still be done. So not only are you getting a bigger sensor, you are getting more light per pixel, all while maintaining a resolution that can benefit from cropping. The 4MP case is irrelevant to this discussion.

Still the Omnia HD had... moreBeing at 12 MP means that each pixel is bigger and can receive more light, but this is at expense of detail. But most people with phones just take photos to chuck onto fb or Instagram so I guess they're going for the image that looks nice when zoomed out. But I agree 16 MP would make more sense in this age of 4K TVs though, and is also good for marketing despite the megapixel myth.
It's a pity when people(ie iworshippers) complain about Galaxy s6 battery when their iPhone 6 can't even last 4hrs of medium usage.
I own an iPhone 6 given to me by a friend, and I also have Galaxy s6 edge. So I taking of experience.
Not a phone worshipper like others do

I have complete faith that there are intelligent designers with the ability to fabricate a flagship phone with a 5-day, heavy usage battery without dramatically increasing battery size.

No NEED to work on camera... All phones have poor battery life. So work on battery rather than camera.
To be honest nothing wrong with my S5 camera. its awesome. struggles on low light. so bigger sensor size makes. As we all know its about the megapixels. its the lens and sensor size
