Believe me soon you only can get middle range phone as more QHD will appear next year or straight jump to 4K and stop there for screen resolution increase.
Huawei didn't make any QHD now because it current in market chipset now can't fully proper running smooth in QHD as not powerful enough.
Note5 definitely better battery life even in usage. Beside LG that had battery issue in QHD probably due to LCD. Any phone in market running AMOLED don't really see differences in power consumption on QHD vs FHD. I don't have issue on Note4, Nexus 6, S6 Edge and now Note5. The only weak battery power is G4.

For me the screen is a very importa... moreThat's the problem battery endurance and battery tech in general is stagnant and isn't advancing quickly enough like CPU's and displays, battery life is very important to me and 2K/4K isn't good enough to sacrifice it, not until battery life catches up. And flagship is such a gimmicky word to sell more top-of-the-line expensive phones, you don't need to pay an arm & leg to get a phone with good internals these days.
AnonD-52738, 10 Nov 2015You may revert back to FHD but not me. Display is main point I pick a phone. I can see the not... moreNot if battery life suffers which it substantially does on most QHD phones outside of the Note 5, Samsung pulled off a miracle there. You also have to keep in mind that other components of the phone are getting more sophisticated and energy hungry too. Also, 1080p is totally fine for 5.5" devices even up to 6" but that's kinda pushing it.
AnonD-52738, 10 Nov 2015You may revert back to FHD but not me. Display is main point I pick a phone. I can see the not... moreYou say the note 5 has better endurance than note 4 and note 3 ..
Imagine how much better was it going to be had they resorted to 1080p only ...
AnonD-52738, 10 Nov 2015You may revert back to FHD but not me. Display is main point I pick a phone. I can see the not... moreQHD only destroys flagships ... See how crap every QHD phone out there performs in graphics in comparison to the iPhone despite sometimes having more powerful internals just because of the resolution ... If you want high resolution for media you may as well buy. A Tablet with high resolution that is going to be much better than ANY PHONE ... Release 1440p devices as you want but there must be a 1080p variant of sorts .. It is not logical that the only devices that can go against the iPhone and not get humiliated in performance is the Z5 Compact and may be the Meizu Pro 5 .... Yes the S6 and note 5 are humiliated despite the Exynos 7420
AnonD-52738, 09 Nov 2015Once you use it then your will know the differences on QHD vs FHD is huge.
Samsung never i... moreYou're definitely kidding
I used both FHD and QHD on the same screen size and the actual difference in quality and viewing is near to nothing , I compared a note 3 to a note 4 and a s5 to an S6 AND I couldn't spot any differences in viewing unless I stick my Eye to the screen which is not why I bought the phone in the first place , but what you can notice is the downgrade in performance and battery ... See how Samsung's beasts perform barely acceptable on onscreen graphics tests , iPhones smoke them ، S6's battery is much worse than the S5 ... Same for note 5. Better standby but worse continuing work .... QHDs offer little advantage over FHD on devices under 7 inchs ..... And what makes it funny is that companies put QHDs on phones and then put lower resolutions on full sized tablets except for Sony ... The Galaxy view should have had a QHD screen it costs 600 $ ... The Tab S 2 has a low 2048*1536 which is also less pixels than QHD ..only the Z4 Tablet has a 1440p display and it performs like a champ

Display is main point I pick a phone. I can see the not enough of FHD in 5.5" and above and my phone always need to be 5.5" minimum. In short FHD no longer enough for me and a lot people that actually see the difference of QHD.
Note5 give me awesome battery life than Note 4 and Note III. No complain for me keeping the QHD.
Boris, 09 Nov 2015The screen doesn't consume too much more. It's the light that uses up the juice. But.. that's ... moreOr even have resolution settings, even if they're hidden in developer options. So you could choose manually what you want, or make it automatically higher for videos and pics and lower for everything else like Sony.
If it is technologically possible, and lowering it on a 1440p device actually helps battery/performance, it should have been the standard the moment they went over 720p. Its android after all, that sort of customization would fit right in.
For me it's all about stamina and having roughly 9hr of Screen-on-Time on my Mate7, i'd expect this to either match or exceed that given that the kirin 950 is built on a 16nm chip (vs 28nm on the mate7).

For me the screen is a very important aspect. I realy can see the difference between full and qhd. And the difference between battery durance isnt that much! Samsung never invest too much on tablet because they know they is less market on it. That 18.4" is simply for testing and pretty sure not really selling even Samsung put QHD on it.
I can see the different of QHD vs FHD and plenty users that own it before can differentiate as well.

As long you did it correctly it is possible even much power saving. Note4 and Note5 proof it much power saving than previous model.

i would say qhd isn't necessary for a flagship phone. at 6 inches, fhd is still good. you would not be holding the phone around 10 centimeters from your eyes when using it, would you? i would say an amoled screen is a must though. looking at a 6-inch screen with inaccurate colors would not be the most pleasant experience. a 13mp rear cam is fine as long as it has one of the best sensor out there and a fast lens of f1.8 apperture. battery-wise, a 4000mah should be standard for a screen of this size.

It's the light that uses up the juice. But.. that's twice the pixels to calculate. Performance skyrockets on 1080p. I can see the difference between the two, but it just doesn't worth it with todays tech, I'll save it for later. It's an ubercool marketing device though. I like sony's solution: using it when needed / there are less drawbacks.
Randy, 09 Nov 2015qhd is necessary, the mate serie is a flagship line. And the battery story, can you name a pho... moreQHD is not necessary
It bogs down the battery life AND MOST IMPORTANTLY the performance , add to that the fact you can't differentiate between 1080p and 1440p unless you get a zooming lens or telescope and stick your Eye to the screen , no 1440p flagship in real life has outperformed its 1080p predecessor in terms of battery .. The Note 4 is pretty much THE ONLY EXCEPTION
In terms of performance all 1440ps are disappointing ... They are all being smoked by iPhones even if they had more powerful internals ... The resolution is unnecessarily high... And this is going to be the normal for a very long time till companies SOCs that are twice as powerful as Apple so that they can have just barely higher performance while using displays with crazy high resolutions ... There is still development for 1080ps don't lie ... And cr@ppy Samsung doesn't know when to put 1440p and when they don't ... They put a 1440p display for a 5.1 inch phone and a 1080p display for a 18.4 inch Tablet ... Even the almighty Tab S2 has 2048*1536p display which is much less than 1440p ...

And the battery story, can you name a phone with a full hd screen that last more then 2 days? The difference in battery stamina between a full hd and newest qhd screens are so small. All the used full hd screens are old screens, there is no more devolpment for the full hd screens.
