It's like saying to all those people buying brand new top of the range Mercedes and paying twice as much than for example top of the range KIA. It's a matter of choice! On top of that, with Apple you know what you get. Amazing performance as software is made together with hardware to work seemlesly without the need for 100 of core, tons of RAM etc, the best app store on the market, amazing customer service, very good re-sale price etc. People like you are very naive. If someone got the money and want buy a Mercedes (Apple) then it is his choice. Some people will obviously go with the likes of KIA (Samsung etc) and this will be their choice as well! Grow up

Futile. but let's play along: Samsung has been around since 1938 current market cap? somewhere around $200 Billion Apple has been around since 1976 Market cap? about $750 Billion and quickly approaching $1 Trillion.

Higher margins allow Apple to secure their supply chain and open up stores in high traffic locations (Hong Kong, Shibuya, and upcoming Singapore, those places aren't cheap). I mean I'm sure if Apple wanted to, they can just buy all NAND chips supplies for the next year or so, leaving everybody else scrambling.
In turn, that's the risk of racing to the bottom for thin margins. You might be lucky to gain good market share, but you won't actually have enough money to do anything other than break even. Samsung can survive the war because they are super huge and have other businesses to pad on their accounting books. Meanwhile the likes of HTC is just gasping for air. I am curious if the likes of Xiaomi can maintain their current strategy moving forward.

samsung need to understand that their market share increase and peak happens after galaxy s3 and note 3 release but they dont understand that it will decrease dramatically because of note 5 and s6
because people who buy samsung phones like two main thing: removable battery and micro sd slot
i know many friend decide not to buy galaxy s4 after figure out that it doesnt have fm radio and then samsung decide to remove removable battery and micro sd slot alltogether
samsung will share the same future with htc and other firms they will survive but their future will be very dark

I have an imac, but truly dislike apple's phone because their cheap look and featureless OS, but i wouldn't mind them having 94% of the profits if they were to invest some for example in their ultra-low paid workers who basically commit s__cide (i have to blur that, because GSM likes to block factual defamatory comments) in massive numbers in their factories!
Pretty funny that a smartphone that never makes it to the top position in a smartphone top of any tech magazine out there, is the most successful. Goes to show that investing in Bieber taking a selfie with an iphone helps profits more than investing in technology.

To counter the impression that Samsung is a Casio like company offering tons a different devices looking like a bulk outfit then perhaps Samsung should develop a new brand which like Apple offers only very few devices.
