Motorola!
Just got Lollipop 5.1 update for my Verizon 1st Gen MotoG (XT1028) yesterday. Everything looks good and seemed to work fine and speedy. It's a very nice OS for such an old phone. I'm very appreciative to have gotten the update. One caveat, the 5.1 update does not allow you to bypass cellular service activation if you do a factory reset.
To use the phone without cellular service you have to go ahead and activate the phone with Verizon. Just be sure to NOT provide any payment info (choose the "pay later" option), that way you will not be charged anything. Your phone will be "activated" and assigned a phone number, but you won't be able to make calls, send text, or use cellular internet until you provide payment info to Verizon.

Ali, 20 Nov 2015A mid range phone of 2013 release getting lollipop......love you moto I wouldn't be giving them too much credit though. Both this Moto G and 2013 Moto X won't be getting Marshmallow. Things went downhill the minute Motorola was out of Google (it took them forever to update the 2013 Moto X to Lollipop0).
Why is nobody suing these carriers for knowingly selling devices with known security issues and withholding security patches?
what about droid maxx xt 1080m
