You cut the cake and remove the burnt part. Then, there is no way of assembling it back together again. Apple product, literally half-baked.

I don't think it will ever break, especially the Touch Cover Keyboard. Microsoft stated it ia spill-resistant and serviceable. The system is printed electronics. Its only 3mm thick. It have 3 inner plastic-like layers. Easy to open and replace. Unlike Apple's, once disassembled there is no fixing it.

If a phone cannot be repaired and replacing anything on it had a sky-high cost, trust me, that phone would not sell that well at all.
Accessories on the other hand are an easy target. (why do you think all these weird cables, chargers and other BS exists in some fancy manufacturers?)

Luckily, Microsoft and Apple made a cross patent deal. Otherwise, Surface Touch Cover and Type Cover won't exist.

Apple has never wanted you to be able to repair or replace anything in their hardware. I'm pretty sure if it was an option, they'd do the same thing with every device or accessory they make.

I mean, it's easy to say they are when you can't see the amount of adhesive there is versus actual bolts or reinforced clamps that hold anything down.
