Steve jobs, 19 Mar 2010Apple iphone was the first touchscreen cellphoneLoooooooooooooooooooooL your nick name says everything so seriously no comment :P
Instead of just keep talking in this forum, let us teach apple a lesson by boycotting their products! We have the right to do what we believe in, let us support HTC by action not by words only! HTC has been one of the best brands to provide us with wonderful and useful features and phones correct? They deserve better I think it's time we return them the favor. Or would you like HTC to be stopped in the US and then you will be forced to return to apple? Stop talking start action.
YES WE CAN!!!!

In 1971, the first "touch sensor" was developed by Doctor Sam Hurst (founder of Elographics) while he was an instructor at the University of Kentucky. This sensor called the "Elograph" was patented by The University of Kentucky Research Foundation. The "Elograph" was not transparent like modern touch screens, however, it was a significant milestone in touch screen technology.
In 1974, the first true touch screen incorporating a transparent surface came on the scene developed by Sam Hurst and Elographics. In 1977, Elographics developed and patented five-wire resistive technology, the most popular touch screen technology in use today. On February 24, 1994, the company officially changed its name from Elographics to Elo TouchSystems.

It did not actually have a touchscreen in the strict sense, but a 9" Sony CRT surrounded by infrared transmitters and receivers which detect the position of any non-transparent object on the screen
[deleted post]Go with Vodafone Australia they aren't rip-offs like Telstra.
Unlock an iPhone $A75 first six months, $A25 after that.
Lot's of people probably pay the Telstra extortionate unlocking fee because it is cheaper than their rip-off data rates.
[deleted post]In 1992 Apple launched the Newton and started patenting the touchscreen technology they developed for it.
HTC can babble on as much as they want, without patents to back up their claims they are worthless.
iphone's the best and revolutionary? Lol!!
so tell me what iphone can and my Hero can't!
bu next month my Hero will get android v2.1 upgrade and will shut down apple fell from the tree!
not to mention google N1!
Android is way AHEAD of iphone that's the fact i-Pets should try to live with from now on!
Apple dominion is fall off no question about it.
and this suing matter is just makes it clear! hahaha...
In 1999 htc started designing the XDA[i] and T-Mobile Pocket PC Phone Edition[ii],their first touch-screen smartphones, and they both shipped in 2002 with more than 50 additional HTC smartphone models shipping since then.”
The mobile industry has recognized HTC’s contributions through a variety of awards including Fast Company’s 2010 Top 50 Most Innovative Companies and MIT Technology Review’s 2010 50 Most Innovative Companies. The GSMA also recently awarded the HTC Hero as the “Best Phone of 2009.” Some of HTC’s technology firsts include:
* First Windows PDA (1998)
* First Windows Phone (June 2002)
* First 3G CDMA EVDO smartphone (October 2005)
* First gesture-based smartphone (June 2007)
* First Google Android smartphone (October 2008)
* First 4G WIMAX smartphone (November 2008)
In 2009, HTC launched its branded user experience, HTC Sense. HTC Sense is focused on putting people at the center by making phones work in a more simple and natural way. This experience was fundamentally based on listening and observing how people live and communicate.

[deleted post]and that what I call a rational person. Much better than those apple fans boys.
[deleted post]Totally agree with you. Apple not gonna bring down anyone. Don't think apple can bring down HTC even they win the lawsuit.

[deleted post]By saying you will never buy an iPhone and claiming any multi-national company more evil than others, shows your ignorance. The iPhone is a very good phone, with many UI implementations and ideas that are superior even still to the chasing pack. RIM have lost huge market share, however android by clearly using similar UI traits to the iPhone is now gaining popularity with all the iPhone haters because they can now say, it does the same but more, rather than relying on the shit that comes from Nokia and Windows. If you look at the Nexus One and the patents Apple are suing for, it is quite simply a knock off of their already registered patents... Much like Apple clearly ripped off Nokias. It is all a corporate game, that people shouldn't worry about (except shareholders) and just enjoy the products that arrive due to these wars. I am an iPhone user, but I admit I still look at any other device because I am not biased by brand, rather open minded and just enjoy technology.
