LMAO this is funny, if you look at it holistically, with a little foresight, this is the Android world shitting themselves in preparation for Apple's next RAM bump starting in the iPhone 7 (which will still be MUCH less than 8GB and while STILL providing class leading performance) lol the haters will of course hate when this proves to be true.

yeah mike the one who release chipset capable of 8gb RAM was intel atom.. intel chipset it's cool speed no heating problem ... good decision for NOKIA they use intel chip for their N1 table no lag even .....

Microsoft Continuum could definitely be the future, but it is still not thinkable that phones could replace computers. Why doesn't somebody try providing a sim slot in a computer?
Phones seem hard to depend on for development and research purposes, at least another 10 years, I would guess.

I can see 1Gb being a problem but not 2/3 even 4 as you claimed earlier. And Chrome tabs rarely reload on my 6Gb Windows laptop and the same goes for my 2Gb Chromebook. A lot of iPhone users are saying the same thing too, that their current and especially older phones and tablets are starting to experience serious lag more often with each new update, maybe because they're adding more and more features into the software that puts more stress on hardware? One more thing I'm curious, do you upvote yourself with a fake account because you have the exact same amount of likes as comments, I mean either you have a secret fan or something's really fishy here just like your comments so far lol

I agree Chrome is a RAM hog but it still can handle 21 tabs i currently have now with 8GB ram with no slowdown. So far only like 4.8gb is being used and i have quite a few of other softwares opened as well.
The new Chrome actually lower the ram used by quite a lot actually.

Lmao PC's will never become obsolete, I mean laptops are considered PC's right? Maybe desktop may become obsolete in the near future, only a small portion of high end gamers, serious content creators and programmers will use it but laptops with physical keyboard and trackpads isn't going anywhere especially since they're becoming slimmer and more lightweight with each iteration. Can you imagine a studio like Pixar making a movie with a bunch of iPad Pros because I can't. And lastly ARM based tablets that pretend to be like laptops are more likely to become obsolete than full blown x86 desktops first.

Laptops and phones have their own rightful place in our lives, my Sony Z Ultra does alot for me but my MSI GT70 2pc Dominator Gaming Laptop is a real powerhouse, 3 times more powerful than the ps4, and I have all the internal memory that I could ever need, all the ram, extremely powerful cpu and gpu (6gb GTX 870m) to play any game I could wish for, for at least the next 5 years. My 6.4" Sony Z Ultra can act as a brilliant dedicated sat nav, watch movies, do all my online shopping, as well.as text, phone and e-mail, it's with me 24/7.

My Windo... moreI don't know what's wrong with your computer but on my Chromebook (yes some people actually use those) I have 15-20 tabs open at any given time and this is with only a measly 2Gb of ram, granted I enabled swap to prevent tab reloading it still performs sufficiently well.

Calm the heck down, people. Seriously. Desktops, laptops, and smartphones have their place in the computer world, with respect to form factor.
Smartphones fit in your pocket. Ultra-portable, ultra energy-efficient. Can do most multimedia consumption just fine. Does some office work and maybe gaming.
Laptops are not as compact, but you can still bring them around. Being bigger than smartphones, more powerful components can be placed. And there is room for a physical keyboard - many people still value that.
Desktops are the powerhouses. They give up mobility for sheer power, and easier serviceability.
