Hello , I wonder what is to understand from the annunced end of the support for windows 10 mobile in 2018 ?
There will be another windows mobile called maybe windows mobile 11 ?
Or Microsoft will gave up the mobile phones division?
I wanted to buy a windows phone , but now I'm not so sure , what to do ......
      Thank you

All these phones can run Windows 10 mobile already through Windows Insider app. Microsoft has great support for their OS unlike the competitors.

AnonD-426702, 03 Dec 2015What you say it's true (along with the small comment at the bottom). I am aware what Micros... moreMy point was slightly different. They finally had the chance to fully unify the OS' like how it was intended - Windows 10 on PC and mobile devices. Now they have two paths:
              - eventually scrap the mobile one and replace with a different one (name difference would be awkward if you're aiming for unity and makes little sense seeing how well it is right now)
              - after a major update, keep extending the support period, but this would mean the EOL date should be for devices rather than the OS itself, so the announcement seems kind'a out of place

I'm curious to see where this goes, especially how that we saw that MS keeps dropping in mobile market share.

Why have you left out 1520, when 1320 included in window 10 upgrade. It most high end, need to address.

Really guys? How long does support for Android phones last? a year? 2 years? They're gonna give 3 years of updates and support for devices. Apple gives around 4~ (iphone 4 stopped receiving upgrades in 2014, and it was released in 2010. I'm pretty sure at least). Regardless of planned obsolescence, they have to keep updating their software to be used on newer devices. obviously they cant make one os and support it forever. The mobile industry is moving so fast 3 years is almost a lifetime (for most devices lifetimes anyways).

I think they want to push real windows 10 to mobiles after some research. then the lite version called windows 10 mobile will not be updated but will be supported. some of these phones will be upgradable to real windows 10. but others will continue to get support until 2019. this seems to be fine. are we clear now?.

They need to promise FULL support. Knowing MS it will be replaced and obsolete by next year, but you might get a bug fix in 2019.
