I've had this tablet since it was released. I'm amazed at how well it performs considering how cheap its cost to own is. No! It isn't as good as my iPad Air, but they are two different animals. The Fire costs 6.5% of what my Apple tablet did and serves remarkably well as a basic consumption device. My iPad is great for how I use it, but sometimes my cheap $350 Lenovo laptop can outperform it with certain tasks. Having been burned by other Android manufacturers, I'm also happy with Amazon's software/security updates. Seriously, I'd like to know how many of the people posting the negative comments have actually tried the tablet and considered the price / performance?

The kindle tablet of their were boss this one sounds and looks like a total failure. Way to discontinue a great line , Amazon, only to replace it with such a subpar product...
