DK, 24 Mar 2010contract-free, but locked?! mind-boggling.. the things that apple does. Seems like your quote is only applicable in US, as ever since Day 1 when Apple launched iphone 3G in HK, all phones, with or without contract with the (exclusive) carrier, have been totally UNLOCKED. The 3GS 16G costs around US$692 (totally unlocked) right now in HK.
Not sure how iphone is being sold in Europe...

Thats weird? The apple store by my house has been selling it to me without contract the past 8 months the 3gs has been out. Been buying them, unlocking them and reselling them this whole time. Guess they weren't supposed to i suppose?

Doesn't really matter, the 3G is chipped to work with ATT only anyways. Unless you are one of those who got a smart phone and don't want to get data service.

Can't wait for the "new" iPhone! The second year thay added a compass and 1 mp to the camera, the third year they added the letter S, this is forth year, wonder what it will be? Hopefully some kinda fancy digital calculator and the letter C.
I will be outside the Apple Store on release day to take zombiepictures for my blog. I always enjoy watching a good scam and world class rip-offs, it's a art.
Lock Stock & Two smoking Barrels and Oceans 12 is right up there with Apple, i enjoy watching them all in action.
