They're basically the same phone at ... moreA8 is 20nm and A7 is 28nm, storage speed almost improved, as a reference, iPhone 6's read speed is on par with S6. 6s is double that of the S6. Improved camera module. Brighter display with higher contrast. Etc. iPhone 6 is a true successor. Check the antutu score difference.

Bt a lot of other stuff have improved. You still don't understand how other components affect performance. Look at antutu benchmark of 5s and 6, there is a drastic improvement. Did you know iPhone 6's storage read speed is on par with s6, and 6s' read is almost twice that of the s6. And the camera module in the 6 is bigger and improved over 5s. Other component are improved too. Both 6 and 6s are true successors

Not designed from s... moreNo. There are different ARM licences, one is using ARM reference design (and do your tweaks) which is what most manufactures have done so far. But there is also a licences that gives you the rights to develop your own custom design.
Apples Cyclone/Twister, nVidias Denver and Qualcomms Krait are all custom design CPUs (cores), not based on ARMs reference designs.

Apple used the 64-... moreI though people knew better than this by now. Do some reading, its not "just" about 64-bit, its about using the improved ARMv8 architecture.
And Apple without a doubt took the other manufactures by surprise and forced them to speed up development.

Apple used the 64-bit for marketing. There is no advantage to a 64-bit architecture except wider buses to read 4 GB ram or higher.
Nothing would have changed had Apple stayed with 32-bit.
