People when we talk about Sony remember one thing atleast where I reside India their cost of phones since Xperia Z being the first hottest phone declaired by GSM itself are not sold below 50 grands and that time buying a Z was buying 2 Samsung galaxy's and buying apple 3gs 3times along with a speaker.... Keep ur self in rainy days where in u will have to carry a plastic bag to put ur pathetic iphones and Samsung rather me just standing and talkin in rains as well rather a sea side view or an outting on the river banks

The only thing this prooves is that if you like iOS you only have one choice for manufacturer. So of course most people have no choice but to trade in their iPhone for another iPhone. That's not loyalty, that's a measure of having no choices.

Whereas with Android you have options. So of course there will be more people trying different tihngs. Because they have choices. When people have choices they don't just all choose the same thing anyway.

    *

I have long argued, in fact, the one of the main selling points of Apple products is that people don't like having choices. It confuses them and causes them cognitive dissoncance. So Apple just says this is the way it is, take it our leave it, and that's a relief for a lot of people. (Much like Henry Ford's famous you can get the Model T in in color you like, as long as it's black.)

At the same time, people don't want to admit to others, or themselves, that they just want to be told what's good and not have to make choices. So Apple, brilliantly, fancies up their products with flashy designs and preaches to everyone the idea that they are better than all other products. That way instead of feeling like they just don't know how to make a choice, Apple customers get to feel superior to everyone else instead.

That is one of Apple's most brilliant marketing tricks, turning a lack of sophistication and inability to make a choice for onself into a sense of smugness and superiority--and getting people to pay them handsomely for that.

Samsung facing a fierce competition with a ton's low cost China made smartphone. But Apple didn't compete with the same Android's low cost brand's....

They are not, the xperia z5 runs over the iphone anyday.

JD, 16 Dec 2015As a full package, software/hardware/customer service/quick updates/ease of use etc iPhone is... moreActually against some android flagships yes iphone might be an upgrade in some areas, but not against a sony flagship no, specially since you mentioned as a "full package". iphone is only better at benchmarks as of 2016, the camera crown was taken by lg and samsung.

              Let me elaborate:

Sony phones overall offer a better "full package" rather than focusing on a killer single feature, like other manufacturers including iphone, samsung focuses on display,lg on camera, htc on speakers, motorola on battery, huawei on price, etc, etc, while sony has not the best display, camera, speakers, battery or price, but it has a great experience of all of them. oh and iphone, it focuses on benchmarks and marketing, and sony? its not the best on one single killer feature but incorporates all of those, a great display, great front facing stereo speakers, great base storage even with micro sd expansion, great build quality, great battery, and great price, and great features, like the camera shutter, IP certification, etc. Iphone is still stuck with bezels from 2010, a single MONO speaker on the BOTTOM, 16gb of base storage, no stand out USEFUL feature, other than right click, I mean 3d touch, battery from 2010 again.

So yes, compared to some android flagships the iphone wins in some areas, just like some android flagships beat it in others. Sony? they just offer the best full package available.

There's no hard number of sales out there. Those numbers are probably nearing the numbers I stated. At least that is what is projected anyway. I don't care about the exact numbers; you can check the OP for my reason to quickly round up numbers.
