exynos not selling much ?. so they really wanted other companies to use exynos ?.
Oh boy.... to most of you that don't know the electronics industry, the reason is very simple! TSMC is over committed and doesn't have the capacity on their 14nm fab. It is common knowledge for the people in the know, the other processes have plenty of capacity. Even Intel is now starting to open up capacity to other companies. So, for AMD, it is a way to get capacity for the 14 nm process. It also means that they have to design for the specific 14nm design process of that fab, since not all 14 nm are the same. Read up on it instead of being keyboard warriors ;)
Finally, this is ideal cooperation.
It's good for customer because Intel monopoly is too much.

Perfect partnership. Now we can have a Galaxy Note running Windows x64.

I'm hopefull of what they can do with the new process, specially in Radeon cards.
AnonD-473183, 22 Dec 2015The fact that AMD moved is proof that Samsung's process is better. Why move if TSMC was better?Or samsung is cheaper
AMD . . . too slowly and always too late in the last decade . . . Hope next year will be better . . .
Nathillien, 22 Dec 2015"haven't been selling as much"??? Yet Samsung is still the market leader by far. A refresher... moreYeah, they sold many phones, but "not as much phones WITH EXYNOS" or "not as much phones with Exynos AS THEY HOPED"
AnonD-473183, 22 Dec 2015Designing a manufacturing process is far more difficult than designing processors. Any comp... moreThat is not entirely true. You can say designing a manufacturing process is an engineering feat and it takes huge amount of money and research. But designing a processor and getting different performance on same size chip i.e, 14nm is also very difficult. It also takes money and research and long time of testing.
AnonD-364786, 22 Dec 2015in before samsung fanboys trying their best to differentiate between manufacturing vs design Designing a manufacturing process is far more difficult than designing processors.
Any company can design a processor. It's very easy. Not many companies can resign a fab process.

lol, 22 Dec 2015Are you in the wrong thread or something?I may have gone slightly off topic by not commenting about AMD but not completely, it is mentioned in the last paragraph of the article that Samsung exynos phones not selling well. Please read the article before commenting.
Vaio Agent, 22 Dec 2015Samsung this time aim Intel & Nvidia? They aren't aiming for anybody. Anyone who wishes to use their fabs and has money can do it.
But TSMC is already more superior than Samsung in terms of performance in their manufactured chipsets. They are more deserving to have a contract with AMD.
Nathillien, 22 Dec 2015"haven't been selling as much"??? Yet Samsung is still the market leader by far. A refresher... moreThey're talking about exynos powered handsets in total. So, even though Samsung sold many smartphones, they didn't sell Exynos powered smartphones (either of samsung or any other OEM) as much as they may have hoped.
