For the time being I'm considering a new iPod touch if they release one. But who knows, contracts change all the time.

Anonymous, 14 Apr 2010Since when did iphone become a smartphone. Perhaps you can copy/paste the definition of smartp... moreSmartphone

Share of 2009 Smartphone shipments by operating system, by Canalys.[1]
A smartphone is a mobile phone offering advanced capabilities, often with PC-like functionality (PC-mobile handset convergence). There is no industry standard definition of a smartphone.[2][3] For some, a smartphone is a phone that runs complete operating system software providing a standardized interface and platform for application developers.[4] For others, a smartphone is simply a phone with features considered advanced at the time of its release - e.g., in the early 2000s this was features such as e-mail and Internet, but now these are commonplace on non-smartphones. Other definitions might include features such as e-book reader capabilities, Wi-Fi, and/or a built-in full keyboard or external USB keyboard and VGA connector. In other words, it is a miniature computer that has phone capability.[5][6]

Growth in demand for advanced mobile devices boasting powerful processors, abundant memory, larger screens and open operating systems has outpaced the rest of the mobile phone market for several years.[7] According to a study by ComScore, in 2010, over 45.5 million people in the United States owned smartphones and it is the fastest growing segment of the mobile phone market, which comprised of 234 million subscribers in the United States.[8]

Looks like 3G won't take advantage of the new OS4.0 features...

Since only 3GS will handle multitasking (aka. smartphone) it's time to sell my 3G :/
