Oh well, all the PCs shop and printing shops already start using windows10 so I have to update mine too. I always get clueless when trying to use the new windows10. Even my office start using windows10. They are changing everything to the latest. Of course, even the library computers too. Why are they rushing this updates too fast. I can't even. Pheww! Take a moment to breath. This laptop of mine is the last standing windows 8.1.
wowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww
I think Microsoft made some offences that will not be forgiven easily (at least by me):
1) Downloading setup files of windows 10 in background without my permission and ruining my internet when I need it.
2) Re-Downloading setup files after they've been downloaded before (since I installed windows 10 about a month after it was downloaded in background.
3) All the bugs in windows 10, where I have to restart my laptop about 1-3 times per day, where I use my laptop only at home, and not work. (start menu stops working, etc.....)
Dude get a life

Yes, if you fail to upgrade to win 10 while free offer is active, you will have to pay for it. But if you do upgrade for free, you won't have to pay for reinstalls once free offer expires.
Better than Windows 7 .. much more refined and up to date .. and much much better than windows 8 (of course) update as soon as you can .. I updated mine on my 3 laptops ( 8.1, 8,1 and 7) since windows 10 was released and man it's worth it!
Let's not forget - free for the first year, reinstall after that and you get to pay for it.
Let's not forget - this shows the number of installs, not unique users (or the amount of downgrades)
Let's not forget - they pushed an update to 7 and 8 users which pretty much forces (at the very minimum constantly nags you) to upgrade, with no option to disable the notification without digging into the installed updates and removing several of them

So far so good...
Mkdc, 29 Dec 2015it will be hard to reach that 1 billion installs within 3 years. I'd say that if they include ... moreYeah...Microsoft target is to reach 1billion windows 10 installs which includes windows 10,windows 10mobiles,Xbox and also hologram device which is yet to make official
using it for last four months, last november update(build 10586) solved all the minor bugs that were present in the early build. games are running much smoother now.

There are over hundred kinds of processors, hard drives, RAM, video cards, etc... and millions upon millions of configurations these components can be put in. Of course something will go wrong somewhere. But, I'll give them some credit - even my 2006-era PC can run the OS decently (maybe with some lag, but no serious problem whatsoever).
Most of them are 'force install' through MS 'critical' windows update unknown to user, bad business practice.
LOL 200 millions my a...
Buggy stuffs, shut up MS, rather than misinforming us with fake numbers push some updates to the OS.
Love it
The math in the article is visibly wrong. The pace is not 40 million per month.
Putting aside the initial boom, you can see that the install pace slowed down to about 90 million in the last 3 months, giving a current install pace of 30 million per month. This is still enough for the 1 billion installs target, but if the trend continues and the pace slows down even more, it won't be enough anymore.
However there will be a boost in installs when phones will be upgraded to Windows 10.
