This is actually sad, how can people complain that there nearly 5 year old device is running slowly on the newest firmware and apps? It's petty much a given, maybe I could see the issue if it was a 5s or even 5 maybe but look how outdated your hardware is on the 4s.. Only thing apple did wrong here was give users the option to upgrade that aging phone.
AnonD-184761, 30 Dec 2015People have become so obcessed with "updates" that they no longer believe their phone is worki... morewe care about updates cause fur some phones(e.g my Lumia730), certain features only become available/useable after updating. Simply put, some OEMs put certain features with the hope that even with subsequent updates, the phone can still be tagged "latest" based on the features the update has brought this, they can still sell the phone months after new updates are pushed out.
Never knew even iPhones do lag too. Since, till date, the term "lag" used to be associated only with the droids.
There's absolutely no denying that this is a well thought up strategy by Apple to impose such updates on older iPhone users. Otherwise, its just not possible for a company such as Apple to not test such updates on older iPhones before they make them available for the users. What the heck is their QA teams doing afterall???
Clearly, they want their users to switch to latest hardware once they start feeling annoyed by poor performance of latest iOS iterations on their older iPhones. Nothing can be more unethical than this!
Eske Rahn, 30 Dec 2015Sorry can not help you there. I do not know. The only aPple device I got is the Ip6-, and a... moreHey, no problem. I will live with IOS 8, instead of updating it to IOS 9 and screw it up further. I have gone through your IOS review already. Off topic - Did you get BB Priv, since you were fed up with IOS?
Mr.Devil's Advocate, you talk like a lawyer (Purely). You don't sound like techy seriously. An UPDATE is to IMPROVE the performance of a device. Not to downgrade. When you can't do something to improve, shut the f*** up (To Apple). iPhone 4S was the last phone that was presented by a legend (Steve Jobs). If the people in Apple truly respected this man, they would have concentrated on this device till date.
The real issue here are the relentless notifications to install the latest version of iOS. They're so annoying they'll make even the most rational amongst us update even though we know our iPhone is too old to operate well with the new software.
I'd like to see an option to disable those notifications. I'd also like an option to roll back to old software in case of an accidental update. I don't think that's too much to ask. Not everyone has $700 to fork over for a new phone.
Muthu, 30 Dec 2015Ok, I got you. Anyways, even with latest 8.x version, app crash issues are still there. Can I ... moreSorry can not help you there. I do not know.
The only aPple device I got is the Ip6-, and after this horrible Ios experience, I certainly do not plan to EVER get an aPple device again.
(I bought it as the ONLY possible way to get an upgrade to my Xperia Pro, via a case, as described here http://eskerahn.dk/wordpress/?p=554 )
Apple even faked the signal strength bars, then they got caught out with it on iPhone 4 with signal drop when you held phone with finger over aerial slit. They are a strange company and very, very, very, very ,very greedy.
Anonymous, 30 Dec 2015This is just Apple's way of saying "Buy a new iPhone". Nothing new....Exactly. It's business as usual for Apple. If you don't like it, there are other brands out there.

Anonymous, 30 Dec 2015You say that like the major Andriod OEMs don't, where the exact opposite is true. You'll get a... moreIf you buy a flagship maybe. Though I'd say your only ever guaranteed one, and are lucky to get two.
If you go for anything less than an android flagship, then updates of any kind are by no means guaranteed. My fathers Sony M4 Aqua ( a solid mid ranger from a mainstream oem) for instance hasn't had one single firmware update of any kind since he got it. And as far as I'm aware Sony have said nothing about it ever getting marshmallow.
And that device is less than a year old, and is by no means the only device left out of the update party.
Look if Apple are doing this then it's wrong, but answer me this, what devices in the android world dating back to 2011 are getting official software support of any kind from their manufacturers?????
AnonD-362866, 30 Dec 2015You expected to buy a phone and still be relevant 4 years later? I don't think "Apple" is the ... moreSuch a sad excuse.. Nokia 3310 still works to this day as a phone albeit with none of the smartphone features.. The iphone 4s was running fine as a phone although without the latest features of new iOS.. Apple or anyone should be cursed for intentionally slowing down a phone through update.. If you are an Apple employee receiving benefit from Apple shady business, I can understand your relentless support.. If you are not than you are just a sad pathetic human being.. Peace
Anonymous, 30 Dec 2015All this being said about the 4s is all well and good but even the 6 is starting to lag and it... moreReally? Well then you must be using a fake, or still running iOS 9.1 beta 1 because that's the only time the iPhone 6 plus ever lagged in my experience, I handed mine down to my cousin, and this s a fact: it runs flawlessly on the current iOS 9.2
This issue is known for years. Apple is doing that since they released the first iPhone.
I'm owner of iphone 4s and confirm that is really slow after using ios 9.2. The problem is apple only allow user to install the latest ios. Apple should give the user freedom to downgrade ios they feel comfortable with. I know my iphone 4s is ancient already, but it should be enough to have fast ios 6 or 7 on it rather than force me to update to ios 9 and cripple the device.

Lex79, 30 Dec 2015If it ever receive's an update......You say that like the major Andriod OEMs don't, where the exact opposite is true. You'll get at least 2 generations of Android with most. Chinese OEMs tend not to provide a lot of OS updates and that's one of the reasons their phones are so cheap.
hahahahahaha finally the truth shall set you free hahahahahaha
And then by 2016 many people start selling their iphones to switch with android or windows. Oh, don't forget that new shiny iphone 6s you got for christmas. You all might want to sell that immediately while you can. Apple vendor may not accept the act of reselling of iphones by next year. No refund either. Then, all of a sudden IOS 10.0 is released to kill off all the old iphones and start selling iphone 7 by March.
Ios 7.1.2 is enough for iphone 4s onwards that the iphone lags too much....and furthur ios 9.2 is enough upto iphone 6 plus...and onwards upadtes should only be available for 6s and future i phones due to 2 gb or more ram
