a) Add a warning that updating will/may cause problems
b) Supply a roll back option
Then they could brush off all complaints ...
I guess I'm playing devil's advocate this time. Has anyone considered the fact that the iPhone 4S is an old phone with outdated specs? The phone came out in 2011, of course it's going to slow down with more updates. iOS updates are optimized for more current devices.
Looking at the 4S's specs, 512 MB RAM is not enough to run iOS 8, let alone iOS 9, smoothly. As it stands, A5 devices and lower are not going to be able to run it smoothly. I have an iPad mini (1st gen) and iOS 9.2 is garbage on it. There is never an instance where it will not stutter.
If there's anything to take away from this article, it's that there will be a time where a device truly reaches its end of life. Obviously these people are too stingy to see it.
that's the way emmc work. it tends to significantly slow down with time. it's not just iphone. every other phone have this problem.
Only on iPhone 4s? No way! I've seen the iPad Air and the iPhone 6 Plus to be unacceptably slow, they stutter, it's like the system, when you're in the home, runs at 25fps, seriously, it's super disappointing. Mi iPad Air was such a beast on iOS 8, and now, it's very laggy
gillieee, 30 Dec 2015This is true, I use iPhone 4S, messages loads deadly slow. I just have 3gb data in my phone. T... morewhat? you didn't expected this from apple? just say, u were blinded by them. they use the cheapest tricks in the market to gets their sales higher! its the worst company in the mobile industry
...And by the lack of downgrade option this is just yet another deceptive move from the despicable company to further their planned obsolescence to cheat people into buying new devices.
Finally, someone decided to step up on this matter. One of the Apple fan experiencing an epiphany after a while. So many liar iphone users keep telling me their iphone don't lag after update. Now, whos laughing? Every ypdate make your iphone slower. I hope people understand why some android phone avoid updates.
100 members, 5 million dollars, that's $50,000 per person. Good luck with that. At best they all might get a new iPhone 6s.
Ugly walls of icons lol. Gets boring quick. Nothing moves around.
Finally ! Apple is a cheat of a company.Their phones cost so much and within 2 years these phones are deliberately made unusable by the mandatory updates.
My Friend's 4S after updating to ios 8 , it became really slow , and then after updating to ios 9 , it became almost unusable...!
Even opening the dialer , messaging & settings takes upto 10 - 11 seconds to open...!
He is so frustrated and now thinking of buying another Android phone...!
This is true, I use iPhone 4S, messages loads deadly slow. I just have 3gb data in my phone. There is no chance for the phone to go slow. Apple I dint expected these cheap tricks from you.
we will already concluded this before... but its a good thing someone is filing a lawsuit for this... FTW
I'd like to see damages awarded here. Absurd? Here me out. There is no way to turn off the repeated (almost daily) reminders to update to the newest iOS software. They nag and nag you until you give in. And what's the reward? Slow performance. Give us the ability to choose to run a lower version of iOS so we can still have snappy performance. Will we have all the newest bells and whistles? No. Will we be able to use Mail and Messages without pulling out hair out? Yes. And on an older device that's what matters most.
