Think of this... the Arab summer is blamed somewhat on Facebook influence and use in those countries. So making Facebook and Facebook approved content the only one available in your area is kinda risky for 3rd world and sub developed nations. So in comes net neutrality... give the full internet like google plans or we don't want it.

AnonD-482761, 31 Dec 2015what you are talking about ?!! 8Mbps is the max speed u can see in egypt and very expensive ... moreI think u need to read the article and the source, it says explicitly that a needed government permit has not been renewed by Facebook.
And yes, u don't have the fastest Internet but ours is not the worst as many try to paint the picture black.
If it was as half as bad it is claimed to be, Egypt would not be in the top 15 countries of Internet users. http://www.internetlivestats.com/internet-users/
We have even higher user % per population than most high populous countries. So please skip the bullocks talk.

all speeds are limited and very slow !!
service is suspended for no reason, no data plans and rates as u said, the real reason is the country have their own internet provider and Monopoly the service here in egypt
no1 can't offer less rates than them. cuz of this it was offer for limited time
so stop talking like this and say the fact!

Not supporting or hating this but where I stay if you can buy a device that can use the internet then you can certainly afford the internet and also considering the things that are free in this free basics thing don't even consume much bandwidth so there is some conspiracy behind this it seems.

I'm in Egypt and I have an 8mbps connection so no idea what that guy is talking about, but most people usually mooch off each other's connections and then complain about the service, which is pathetic.

Now as for the article, the company providing the service had already announced that this service was for a limited time only and that it would end by the 30th of December, after all they wanna push their own data plans and rates, they only intended to give people a taste of it to get them hooked and pay later on.

I am not talking about 4g even, because our mobile internet providers are ridiculous, we have a plan 1 eur c = 1 minute of mobile data and for this plan they dont give us 4g. But sure they will give 4g for monthlt plans which is 1gb for 2,40 eur or so. 4g will just use that 1gb data in one day.

Free? Hah! Good joke Facebook. Free for how long? How many years? You disabled comments, dislikes on ur videos on Youtube. Sending notification to everyone to support non-net nutrality. Keep it up, u would be just thrashed out from all countries in a series. We Indians were the first, but dont think much, others are joining soon.

Nobody is so fool to support non-neutral internet of yours.

I don't think Facebook should've been allowed to do this to begin with, but I also don't believe the internet in those countries is anywhere near acceptable levels.
