If I don't want to be bothered, I might as well get the iPhone, which again, has richer ecosystem and guaranteed support and update.

From your comment I understand that you are not happy about two things in windows phone;
1. How long it takes to get updates and,
2. Google App/Services are not available on windows phone.
Let me try address them.
1. Wp8.1 works very well and fine, the update is intended to introduce new flavor and make user experience more pleasant. Unlike android phones, most android updates are provided because of the security lapse discovered, which means that before the update your personal information were leaking without you knowing.
I know of many companies that do not allow any android version lower than 4.4.4 log on to their servers. However, any wp8.1 is accepted because windows phone is more secured and reliable.
2. Google apps/services: I don't know any google apps/service that I need or might need, the only one that seem to be unique is youtube, however I don't need an app for it (for security sake), I simply go to the website and view or download any video I want. If I must use an app, believe me there are plenty alternative apps that are available on windows phone with very fantastic features.
Dear friend I understand your reasons for not wanting to use a windows phone, but that is not to say that android phones are as good as windows phones when it comes to business security. More so windows phones outclass any android device in terms of performance and reliability.
I think I know why many people are hating, this is because they are afraid of the future, when people come to see what windows phones can do, android won't matter to them anymore.
Seeing so many comments about missing Google apps and other largely useless apps just makes me wonder: are people still living in 2011-2012?
Let's have a look:
1. Gmail - one of the worst email providers on the market. Only Yahoo is worst atm. (the large number of registered accounts is not a quality indicator)
2. Google+ = dead; useless.
3. Google Maps = very good.
4. Google Drive = slow and usually comes with sync problems.
5. Youtube = Google's best service.
6. Google Docs = buggy + limited features.
7. Facebook = useless. Just something to waste some spare time with.
8. Twitter = useless. Just something to waste some spare time with.
9. Instagram = useless. Just something to waste some spare time with.
Live/Outlook mail > Gmail
Reason(s): Much faster, less bugs, better spam filters, all with a clean and awesome interface.
Here Maps Google Drive
Twice as fast as Google's Drive, no sync problems, better interface, better file previews, much faster large file (or large batches of files) download.
MetroTube (Windows Phone) > Youtube app (Android)
Faster browsing, videos playing under lock screen, videos playing while you are using other apps, better navigation controls.
Microsoft Office > Google Docs
Everyone knows that MS's Office is the clear winner here.
Facebook, Twitter, Instagram - these are non-essential apps, just like games are non-essential phone apps.
Unfortunately I can confirm the hardware problems from experience. The phone gets very warm and the battery is flat after just a few hours (4-8).
Updates, reinstalls, switching off any background apps has not helped.
In this condition the phone is useless.
MS denying problems after so many users reporting similar issues gets me quite angry.

Vendhar, 02 Jan 2016I think this is just an artificial shortage created by Microsoft to attract some attention. Wi... moreThere is no artificial shortage in India. It is available over the counter though price itself is bit steep for the average consumer but if they really do have the plan to support these devices with upgrades and other services (including hardware replacement programs) then the price may be appreciated otherwise if they try to make quick bucks like they did with Nokia Lumia 920 devices which had become orphaned immediately after the launch then MS would become another Nokia!
I think this is just an artificial shortage created by Microsoft to attract some attention. Windows phone 8.1 is way more complete and attractive than this new Windows 10 found on latest Lumias
What HW problems I'm using the phone now for more than 3 weeks and working excellent any how it is also out of stock in KSA

AnonD-428442, 01 Jan 2016False.
With WP, you get the worse of both worlds.
It has a similar closed garden approach li... moreYou are clueless.
None of the WP 8 have been updated to W10M because the update wasn't released yet not because it won't be released ever.
Also how many Android users care about custom ROMs? 1% maybe.
I never cared about installing a custom rom on my phone because I don't have the time and nerves to experiment whit my phone. I pay money for it to work.
The only Google app that WP lacks and matters is Gmail but you have more than decent alternatives. Also 3rd party youtube alternatives on WP are actually better and more feature packed than the official google app.
How many WP8 phones are on WP10 now?
Who wants to be. It's called Insider Preview and you can install it on almost any Lumia Phone. Don't like W10M, you can go back to WP 8.1. Can you do that on Android? No. You have to complicate yourself or buy a Nexus.
No guarantee in updates? explain, because in this regard Windows 10 Mobile already let Android in the dust. Microsoft will push monthly firmware updates to carrier W10M phones, that means at least the same for unlocked phones. It took my Moto X (which arguably gets fast updates... not really) 7 months to get a security and bug fixes patch, 7 months. And it's an unlocked phone.
What hardware problem?
Mine looks ok those 20 days I own and use it.
if Microsoft has captured enough market share this year. we will also develop wp version of our apps. we have got some requests for porting. but we will wait for market analysis report from trusted firms that we are subscribed to. may be other app developers are also looking to port their apps if market share increase,

Anyone commenting here actually tried the 950XL for more than just a few minutes?
WP10 runs without a hitch. Not once did it freeze or did I experience any problem. The phone rebooted a few times but that was after the automatic update.
Anyone saying here that Android is open source should think again. Why is it then than the carrier decides what update you should get... almost forcing you to accept their bloat ware and buying a new mobile if you want to run the latest android version.
And don't tell me that you can install that latest version on it... tell this to 99.9% of owners who surely know how to create a custom ROM.
Then there are the complains about the 950XL looking cheap with the plastic backside.
But the Apple battery pack looks great. Besides that most users use some sort of covers anyway. But show me a Dual Sim Phone, with removable battery, SD (up to 200MB), great camera, USB-c (fast charging, 50% in 30min), wireless charging and and and...
I will take the 950XL 10 times over the i6s Plus which costs $100-200 more with half the specs. I can live without the games that may not be available on the app store... in need it for productivity and nothing beats microsoft here... just a fact. I don't need an overpriced toy.

I have one, its actually awesome. The store is good and doesn't contain mostly place fillers like android and ios. Performance is sharp and is easy to use. Really have no idea why people seem to hate this os. Its stable, it works, it simply looks better. If you haven't used all three then stop commenting.
AnonD-428442, 01 Jan 2016Android's open source is its saving grace for the geeks. Android has notorious issue with OEM... moreNothing against Android. It is the best mobile OS currently available. But I am sick of Android fans always saying it is OpenSource.
