Thats because, instead of open platform where PC/Windows Mobile/Pocket PC used to be, Windows Phone is severely restricted & limited, for both consumer and developer.
Some of those restrictions were lifted off in recent Windows 10 Mobile, but it's already too late.
If only MS weren't so greedy when Windows Phone launched, history would be different. MS development platform is still the best one out there, visual studio and such.
yes.....finally they are atleast talking about things which make sense.atleast learn to deliver things which are a complete package and not half baked.this was the problem with nokia.please do not repeat it.
Apple has brand recognition among other things
Android have Google services and customisability
WP need to have a big enough USP in order for people to choose them over the others. I reckon Microsoft is hoping that Continuum is the key differentiator for WP. It could work but it will need to be a more seamless experience. Perhaps find an innovative way to cut back on the amount of hardware necessary to run the wp apps on desktop.
Having the phone not be the focus?? Perhaps syncing the entire phone (accounts and data) to the cloud and develop a hardware reader that will retrieve data simply by touching the desired phone to it, thus reducing set up time
Jjjjjj, 02 Jan 2016Launch yr smartphone with better, matured and stabilized osAgreed, I've never worked with an os system thats so glitchy as this. It's not user friendly either so it rules out most mobile phone users as android is extremely easy to use and ios is not that bad either
Increase your app store, do what ever it takes to increase it
Microsoft should have chosen Android for their OS.
they probably die in 2016 if they dont make a move
Just lunch an Android like OS just look Blackberry for example microsoft mobile will die for sure..
It is all about the wrong strategy...I started to use Lumia920 from late 2012 and from that time was waiting for a proper flagship and it never came...then had to move to Android and bought a galaxy S6 edge, I personally can not see any chance to back to WP in future until Microsoft stops anouncing out dated, low performing and ugly so called flagship phones.
Jjjjjj, nailed it in 1 shot - no one likes spending £420-£480 on a Smartphone equipped with Beta-released General Software
It's not too late Microsoft. Ask and invite all the official apps developers to develop and keep their apps updated. As long as this thing successfully done, users can get back their dusty wp or try it again at least. Your wp experience is good, but the apps is not good. It's simple formula, got official apps + updates = phone still alive. no/lack official apps (can count using fingers these in wp) + not updated = phone is dead. nobody wants dead phones.
Lack of apps is the real problem of WP, untile they "fix" that they'll alway fall behind Android and iOS...
First came the guy with "elope" as his name and now comes "Nutella" trying to smoothly spread the OS as though it's 9n bread. It all began way too slow when the rest are already matured back then.
Let's see if BB or MS would be the first to drop its handset division.
"Device is of Lesser Importance than the services it can provide"
