Very nice, though everytime I hear WiFi Alliance, I think of like some kind of group meeting in some under ground tunnel... it sounds very " In Justice League" ish to me lol
not sure why
Great. Another thing to add to smartphone toggle option. I need to use HaLow to connect to my smart tv and smart microwave. Why not call it Wifi-Lite. Oh, and there was this LiFi invented a few months ago too. Where did that go? I see no future in this as long as bluetooth exist. Bluetooth Le is a more feasable idea.
they want to rid good old bluetooth....but to sharing something using wifi didn't it need its own app????

Anonymous, 05 Jan 2016Interface of Things?? IoT?? I don't get it.. I'm getting old :p...its Internet of Thing which mean all devices can be connected with internet for example tv, fridge, radio, clock, smartwatch, set to box, car, microwave, oven, printer.....
What about wireless technology that works up to 5000m, 3000m, 2000m, 1000m, 500m, 200m or 100m from device to device. Please create something exciting for costumers and not just copying one another. You just need imagination and produce something new and useful. Just stop copying technology that already exist.
900mhz is used by GSM?

Bluetooth short range is also a security measure.
I´m not sure if this 900mhz Low Energy Long Range wifi will be the best way to interconnect all of our home and personal equipment, as long as security concerns.
What's the difference between that and existing wi-fi tech? The chips in smartphones already use tiny amounts of power. If this really does go much lower, then awesome, but they didn't detail that.
Isn't 900MHz licensed ?
wifi n bluetooth need to merge into one common awesome spec
that's the waayyy of the fuuturrre.
If it has longer reach than Bluetooth, and will be implemented in other chips with Wifi, it could be very usefull.
If it's an additional standard, I'm not sure.
But isnt 900MHz already occupied?
So what you're saying is you're going to have to have your Wi-Fi on all day. Why don't you just give the hackers a key to your god damn house because now they're going to have a back door through your Wi-Fi which has been shown and proven that they can easily hack iPhone or any iProduct. Wow this does not sound smart. Well if this is true I hope Apple goes with it while Android and the rest of the companies stay away from it.

LOL... what a funny article.... things and things....
cool, it will give bluetooth a run for its money. current bluetooh devices (mouse, keyboard, headphones) are always carry a premium
apple deciding to remove the audio port will help push this if it is more efficient and cheaper than bluetooth.
How will this new low-power wifi technology work? Will it only work if connected via WiFi? Then this is a long shot alternative to Bluetooth when connecting other devices like smartwatches, headsets, etc. to your smartphone. This will have portability and reliability issues: how can you use it in places where there are no network signal hence no Wifi hotspot? And in places where signal is pretty weak or intermittent, unreliable wifi connection will hamper its efficiency.. This is just lame, users will only find themselves riddled with more complications with this kind of connection.
Interface of Things?? IoT?? I don't get it.. I'm getting old :p...
This will be Bluetooth 5.0
