Windows 10 destroyed my hard drive with its buggy system. Going back to Windows 7 and never gonna install that Crappy Spyware excuse for an OS ever again.

Windows is for power users. Mac - I haven't used ever so can't comment.

Computer science professor here and long time fan of Microsoft. I pre-ordered my Surface Book (i7 with NVIDIA GPU) from the Microsoft store and received it on the first day of availability (The 26th). Since then I have experienced every one of the problems cited on the web.
- The Hyper-V related video hashing.
- The audio pops and clicks.
- The freezes in mid use.
- The hangs when trying to resume from sleep.
- The delayed action of the track pad.
(I have tried to attach a sample video showing the display hashing)
I was willing to wait it out for more driver updates. Now, then pen - which started falling apart as soon as I got it - will only intermittently register with the screen. I realize now there are problems no software update can fix - I am not about to, for example, buy a new pen once a week.
There is so much to like about this laptop that it is very upsetting that I must return it for refund. I would love to keep it, but this is a tool and it isn't working out.

Linux is just fraction. and mobile users Android or iphone. Linux is good for work and servers. it's open source nature helps it to be the best for any servers and power users. and also hackers (Kali Linux)

Of course, if you factor-in ALL Linux-based operating systems - Android being a prime example - the true number is in the low TENS of billions!

Mac is unable to keep up with this trend. visual studio is a development tool which now supports more platforms is a good thing. it is not a failure, and open sourcing something is too good for developers. .net and c# are same thing. do you know why iPad pro released, because surface pro 3 was able to capture a good share of sales from macbook air. but iPad pro was unable to keep up with surface pro 4 when it released. only ifans may buy it. and azure is a different business, for website hosting in the cloud, it sells well. it is like a computer where you can install an OS and use that computer to host websites or other internet related things. you have option to install many OS. when installing an OS it needs to be optimized for the virtual machine. so building a Linux distribution is a good move. but I think who want to use Linux on azure will do with other famous Linux distribution. so it's just a way to make more profit for Microsoft. windows will continue its growth no matter how much degrade you do, it is much better than Mac. when it comes to getting things done. I already seen the pain of a frnd who is a Mac user

I have seen some Mac fans trying to degrade it, but don't be ignorant have a look at someone who is actually using this device. my uncle has a surface book and it is great. from reviews I know sp4 is also great. there were some software issues which looked like hardware issues for first time users. but these are fixed in software updates

Its Windows Falling Era. To keep alive they made ASP.NET open source first. Then C#. Now they are developing a version of Visual Studio for Linux. And Microsoft is creating and using their own Linux platform to run Azure services.

Look on amazon.com or any other sites, you will find people cursing MS for faulty manufacturing defects of Surfaces :P
Even after paying this much, you get faulty devices which is going to hurt as Software glitches can be resolved easily NOT hardware ones!
Look up how people are not getting worth, even the lid is cracked in some case. Surface sucked badly, MS couldn't live upto hype.
