AOSP is open source, Android is not, mainly because it has a bunch of propietary stuff from Google, commonly referred as the GApps. That is freely distributed, its another matter and a subject for a long discussion, since lots of hardware manufacturers have paid royalties to Apple and Microsoft and whatnot patent troll.
Regarding the 'crap' adjective, what is your base of comparison? iOS? Win10? I consider both of those on the trailing edge of innovation. That those OS have less "fragmentation", I agree, but they have such a small installed base and an utter lack of variety in hardware compared to Android that makes the point moot.

Why would you laugh at people that have a great phone. I have two BB10 devices and I am not the least bit worried. It is my understanding there is security updates already scheduled for BB10. They are great phones. I feel sorry for you that you feel motivated to go call everyone you have never met idiots. Who is the real idiot here?

This is the best thing blackberry can do. Let face it. The blackberry is was not a big seller in this day in age. iOS and Android rules the smartphone OS business.

Now that is a great decision. If only nokia had done this much earlier then they wouldn't have gotten duked by microsoft and stephen elop. Android is where the interest is at.
